We stayed here for a week and enjoyed the warm hospitality mentioned by so many. The room was comfortable and bed linen and towels better than in many more expensive establishments. My only criticism is that a small fridge would have been much appreciated. Barga is hot in the summer. The breakfasts ( included in the room price) were not mass buffet-style. Each table was served by a lovely lady with a generous plate of perfectly ripe fruit presented in bite sized pieces. A basket of breads with prosciutto crudo and cotto followed, accompanied by different cheeses each morning. We dined on 3 of the evenings enjoying excellent cuisine and very reasonably priced quality wines. Some say Alpino has the best restaurant in Barga. I haven't tried them all but of the many very good ones I have tried, Alpino stands out.
Excellent hotel run by local family who pride themselves on a high standard of hospitality
Part of the hotel comprises of a restaurant which is run by the family.. Food is fresh and local.. There is also an excellent wine cellar which Roberto will happily advice you in which wine to drink
Room was large and very comfortable .. Very well maintained and clean
Hotel is central to most shops and bars.. Easy walk to old Barga and local transport..
My family, friends and myself have stayed at this hotel many times. We have never been disappointed. There are six of us staying in three separate rooms for a week this year and everyone is extremely relaxed and happy. Our suite (no 10) has a small
Kitchenette, two bedrooms, ensuite and huge balcony. The air conditioning is fabulous and was definitely required due to the heat outside. The best thing about this hotel is its cleanliness and I'm a serious clean freak! The rooms and ensuite are spotless. Beautiful white fluffy towels. Crisp white bed linen which is changed every second day! Bed is pretty comfy though pillows are seriously hard but that's the only small fault I have, but I like soft pillows. Great location. We will be back!
This is a charming small hotel on the outskirts of an amazing 11th century town.
Hotel room with small balcony was spotlessly clean and well equipped and cosy.
Delicious breakfast was included and such good value.
There are many excellent restaurants within the old town.
I stayed 4 nights in this lovely hotel whilst attending a friend's wedding in the area. The hotel has remained in the same Italian family for several generations, and the owner and his family and staff were all very friendly and helpful. My 'single room' with its wooden beams and shutters had a comfy double bed and a nice clean modern en suite. I loved sitting in their restaurant each morning eating delicious fresh fruit, pastry, breads, cheese etc. whilst watching the locals below in the cafes going about their morning business. I ate in the restaurant on two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The complementary glass of prosecco whilst I read the menu was a nice touch!
