When we arrived at this hotel, there was nobody at the reception. A person from the restaurant came to check us in, took our passports and told us to come back in 1h to pick them up!!! I was not really impressed by this, but then while we were entering the lift, someone came and actually had scanned the passports and handed them to us. All good.
I did missed the email saying that we have been charged for the stay and that we only need to pay tourist tax at the check out so, the next day at the check out, again, the person who should be there wasn't and the person from the restaurant had asked us to pay for the room. Fair enough, we have paid. When I have discovered that we have been charged 2 times for the same room, I have asked for refund. We have received the confirmation that we have been charged twice and have been asked for the bank details for the refund to now wait and wait. No response from the hotel whatsoever. They have disappeared. AVOID this place!
The room was clean and comfortable and a good size. But in the bathroom there were bare wires hanging from the ceiling and just taped up. I had to ask for a bedside lamp. Hot water was an issue - you had to run it for a very long time and one evening there was no hot water at all.
Breakfast was fairly good - some good home cooked breads and cakes. Coffee machine was not so good.
On the booking site there was reviews stating there was evening meals, which as this was low season they were not available. Nor was the bar or coffee facilities available after breakfast. There was also no complimentary tea or coffee in the room and certainly no kettle as advertised. This was really inconvenient as it was a good 10 minute walk to a cafe or restaurant. It was also bitterly cold and stormy in the evenings, so one night I couldn't face going out. I did ask if I could have a coffee, but was refused and told it was not available.
Staff were friendly, but very little English and they were not always about.
Whilst there was a lift, the lighting in the corridor was on a timer and you didn't always have time to get in or out of the lift and into your room before the time expired, leaving you in the dark.
we booked the hotel thru the net reading reviews and going thru pictures of the place.
We arrived on the time we marked and was shocked. There was no resemblance at all between the pictures we saw on the web and the place.
The place was actually deserted, it looked like a store room and not a hotel. Neglectfulness everywhere and not so clean either. We went up the stairs to check the rooms. They smelt of dampness, we just couldn't stay there.
The lady Admissions Office came specially for us, and didn't to stay and what's more, she didn't speak English and no other foreign language, which meant that there is no one on the place!
We tried to speak with the local clerk of booking.com but she wasn't helpful at all (in US the service we had all over our trips was quite different). So we decided to look for another hotel. We went to Hotel Princess, we payed only a bit more, but what a difference! Many people were around, the lady on the Desk spoke English, the room was big, airy and nice with a balcony toward the bay. We went down and strolled along the esplanade along the bay, and had beautiful breakfast. What a Difference!!!
