Spent 2 nights at the Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort but at booking it was the Courtyard. Got a pretty decent rate below $150.00 per night but did not include the $20 per night resort fee which included parking and 2 maitais.
Shower good pressure; no tub
A/C worked great
King bed comfy
Location to off property eateries required driving and traffic
Parking filled up every night with cars parking in non stalls and SUV taking 2 spaces (did they pay $40 for resort fee???)
Pillows super soft; asked for firmer pillows but they brought 2 more silly kleenex soft pillows
Pool open but limited seating so if you did not snag a spot with chairs...oh well. Looked as if people put their hotel supplied beach towel on the chairs to "save" them and never saw them the whole 2 hours at the pool.
Never ever saw security. We felt access to the inner hotel was very open to anyone, guests or not. ANYONE has access to the room elevators.
For 48 hours we saw a stained wet kleenex on the public stairs and felt property maintenance is not a priority.
Front desk had no Aloha. Business is as business does.
Ordered some desserts and coffee from room service. Thought we'd save $5 and pick it up ourselves. You'd think 20 minutes is sufficient time to pour a cup of coffee and grab a slice of cheesecake from the kitchen. Obviously not. We walked to the desk only to be greeted by the "chicken in the headlights" stares. The "manager" volunteers to head up to retrieve our complicated order. Five minutes later she comes down with our order. Is there cream with the coffee I ask. No. She answers. Would it be too much trouble to get me some cream I ask. No she answers. 5 minutes later she returns without cream. We have none is her response. Thank you is mine. For nothing! Thank you Sheraton for absolutely nothing!
My wife and I stayed at the Sheraton/Courtyard Marriott Coconut Beach for a total of three nights in the beginning of October 2019. I am writing this review to specifically thank a front desk employee named Jackie who helped us throughout our vacation. Upon arrival, Jackie could tell my wife was pregnant (on her baby moon) and went out of her way to get us into our hotel room with an early check-in. She made sure we received a corner room for our comfort. We really appreciated her excellent customer service, and it really set the tone for the rest of our stay. Thanks Jackie!
We stayed in a newly renovated corner room on the third floor. Everything in the room looked new and redesigned. We really liked the wall decor and the bedding was comfy. As others have mentioned this year, this hotel has been doing big renovations across the property. We were fortunate to have arrived after the major construction finished, and it seemed like we were in the “grey area” of the Courtyard to Sheraton brand transition. I can’t vouch for the restaurant downstairs, because we didn’t dine in during our trip.
The beachfront location is great, and it was nice to wake up with the sunrise due to the hotel’s east side location. The hotel’s area is near many good places to eat, so you won’t have a shortage of choices of restaurants to choose from. You’re also close enough to the airport to make it back with your rental car under 30 minutes. The hotel has complimentary/free beach towel, umbrella, and bicycle rentals which was a nice bonus. The only thing I wish they could improve is complimentary coffee to guests in the morning.
I would highly recommend this property if you’re looking for a newly renovated Marriott hotel with pretty enticing points redemption and nightly rates. I’m sure once the Sheraton turnover is fully into effect the prices will only go up so book now if you’re on the fence.
I stayed at the hotel with my daughter for four nights and we liked it, it was very pleasant and I believe the hotel is the best value overall in Kauai, if you don’t want to spend 400$ a night. The location is great, beach fantastic, rooms nice, big and clean, pool new and one does not have to worry about finding a chair at the pool. But...
- I called in advance to check whether they’d be done with the pool and outside area, I was told yes, done by the end of September. Now at the end of October they are still working on the landscaping etc.
- staff can be extremely friendly, or simply horrible. The lady at the coffee counter seemed to be in physical pain to hand me a coffee. The next day, another employee was extremely nice.
- rooms are made... sometimes...
- my daughters EarPod was on the bed and gone after the room was made that day. I asked them to check to get it back to me... I had to follow up the next day and was told it was not to be found. I don’t think that anyone took the time and check...
- Restaurant and food choices are very limited and staff is not trained when it comes to food allergies (celiac in my case). But there are good places to eat in walking/biking distance.
Again, the hotel itself is rather new/renovated, location great and overall a very good choice. The service is in my opinion not what you’d expect from a Sheraton/Marriott.
We found the staff to be very helpful and polite at this Marriott/Sheraton hotel.
The pools are open and quite nice, fire pits are working, but some of the surrounding pool area is still under construction when we were there (laying tile, lawn work). Roosters roam the property (the pretty much do what they want in Kaua’i) and were walking through the restaurant at breakfast - which I thought was hilarious and added to the ambience. We had finished eating when it decided to hop up on the table.
Our room was small but clean, and though a bit noisy, the AC worked fine.
I would stay here again.
