This is a lovely hotel in the centre Lenk.
We had a room with a balcony overlooking the garden and mountains, which was very pleasant.
It is all very nice. The rooms, the location, the staff, the breakfast, the free swimming pool, the free sauna...
Can’t fault it really.
We saved a fortune using the Simmental card, to go on the bus to Simmenfalle and Iffigenalp (2 places) and cable car to Betelberg and Metsch (2 places).
We were very happy staying at Hotel Kreuz for 3 days. I just picked it based on reviews in TripAdvisor. It was an easy walk from the train station.
We had Room 222 on the second floor, which included a nice balcony looking at the town as well as nearby hills. We thought the room was a good size, with plenty of space for the 2 of us to move around. There were 2 comfy chairs and small table inside, as well as on the balcony. Plus there was a desk with chair. We felt like there was ample storage. Everything functioned well in the room, and we had no issues that were negative.
It doesn’t have AC because it would probably not make sense for such a short season. We were glad to be able to open the door for some cooler air, but it was not an issue.
When we went to plug in our devices and my husband’s CPAP machine, we found none of our adapters worked. Reception provided us with 2 adapters, which we returned after buying our own set at the local Coop.
We were in Lenk im Simmental during their jazz festival (Lenk Jazz Days). We could buy tickets at the hotel reception. After attending bigger and more formalized jazz festivals, this was a welcome change. We thoroughly enjoyed the 3 jazz concerts that we attended! The main venue (Kronenplatz) was about 1 block from Hotel Kreuz. So convenient!
We ate 3 nights in the hotel—once in the restaurant and twice in the Stube. The menu is largely the same at both places, although I think burgers are only available in the Stube. The food was very good, although reservations were necessary as they were very busy.
The hotel staff were so helpful and kind! They helped us with figuring out hiking trails and the different cable car-gondolas. And we were also given a ride to the train station on the morning that we departed. We didn’t ask for a ride, but my husband had developed a foot issue, so we welcomed a few less steps. Such great hospitality!
We stayed here in Feb with a Shearings holiday. We had a warm welcome and the staff were great. We had a fairly large room, which was kept spotlessly clean and fresh towels were left every day. The food was good, plentiful and well presented. Although the temperature plummeted during our stay, supplementary heaters were provided in rooms if necessary. I would certainly stay here again
We had a good welcome at reception, staff throughout were friendly and helpful. It was good to have free wifi, and pleasing to find a full-sized swimming pool and sauna. In the room, there was a bathroom with a BATH, which was lovely and deep. There wasn't a fridge unfortunately, but there was bottled water. Best of all, the mattress was an actual double mattress!
The only negative point was that the hotel is right next to the church with the associated bells all night. Being a hot night, we couldn't keep the windows closed - so bring your earplugs.
We stayed at Hotel Kreuz for one night. We had a family room (light renovation), one room with a double bed and an adjoining room with two single beds. The room was big and very functional: There was a wardrobe for your clothes, enough space to put your suitcase (in most cases you end up placing one suitcase on the floor, because there's only space for one) , a balcony and two seating options. The bathroom was clean. Breakfast was OK, staff was friendly. Summed up: Not a fancy hotel, but if you want to have a good basic place to stay, then it's for you!
