We stayed here for 2 nights on half board. We had one of the newly refurbished rooms looking directly over the seafront. The room was perfect, 2 large comfortable beds, nice bed linen etc.
The staff were delightful and the pool area and bar were just right. They were also very clean..
Our problem was with the dining room. We booked half board so we thought we could choose lunch or dinner, but at the time of year we visited the restaurant was not open during the week for lunch, so our half board option only allowed us to eat in the evening. It was a buffet menu, plenty of choice with salads etc, but the main courses of meat, fish, vegetables etc were COMPLETELY cold, it was as if the area where they were served was not connected to the heating system. Perhaps the fact that there was a microwave next to the till should have been a clue. The breakfast menus also suffered from cold eggs and bacon so clearly something to be addressed by management.
We were so pleased that the hotel had re opened after a closure of 2 years or so, but maybe we should have left it a bit longer for them to have done all the refurbishment before we visited.
We hope to visit again as the positive elements are there, they just need to get everything fine tuned.
We booked a room with sea view for a couple of nights. We were in room 204 and the view was great. We sat watching the sun rise in perfect skies. The room was well equipped and clean. There were 4 usb ports built in between the beds for charging devices and free Wi-Fi. Breakfasts were some of the best I've had in any hotels. A superb choice of hot and cold foods.
We didn't use the pool although it looked inviting.
The location was great. Almost equidistant between the old town and port. Both equally walkable along the promenade.
My first choice for stopping in L'escala.
This could be a great hotel. It has a swimming pool (albeit too cold to get in), an excellent view, a bar, and provides breakfast.
Our room (#515) smelled awful - Worse that I can convey. We we arrived, it smelled like a rotting corpse. My wife didn't want to affirm the stereotype of obnoxious Americans so instead of insisting on another room, we left the door open and fan on. We slept all night with the door open, despite being rather cold. After leaving the restroom door closed, I am now convinced the smell is a plumbing problem as the odor is worse in there.
No one should have to pay to sleep with such a disgusting stench. If the owner/manager smelled that for him/herself, I am certain they would agree to give me a full refund.
I would have given 4 stars otherwise. My advice to others is to ask to ser the room BEFORE checking in. If your room smells as bad, you'll know as soon as you open the door.
Stayed here in September for a pre-winter break with my partner.
First the pros:
The hotel appears to have been refurbished: everything nice and new looking.
Rooms are clean and well maintained.
Location is right by the sea with great views (if you want a beach then you'd need to walk about 5 or 10 minutes, hardly a long walk). Its also very quiet, no noise at all.
The pool area is large with a bar nearby.
The area is well served by roads and theres lots to see in the surrounding area and its not far to drive to those spots.
The pool is the deepest I've come across in a hotel, weak swimmers or kids may find it a little intimidating. The water was also quite cold.
Street parking in the area is not great, what is there gets filled up quite rapidly. There is off street parking at the hotel, which they charge €10/night for.
We were there on a B&B deal, much the "hot" food at breakfast was served at lukewarm temperatures. I was stood at the counter when a fresh batch of fried eggs was served up and even so they were cool.
Lastly, although the vast majority of the staff were friendly and helpful, there was one girl at reception who was anything but. Her manner was brusque and not at all welcoming.
Fantastic stay - this was the beach holiday leg of a 2 centre holiday.
First 3m deep pool we’ve had on holiday for a long time if ever and our 17 and 19 year olds had loads to do. The entertainment team (Liere you are the BEST) have been fantastic - half the hotel do the in pool aqua aerobics dance and there is cycling, paddle boarding (which you can do independently anyway) from the beach round the corner and much more.
Aesthetically from the outside this looks the nicest hotel to us - between the paddle boarding long beach and the posher old main town which after days along the seafront is amazingly picturesque and very very popular.
Resort was recommended to us and we are not disappointed.
As a side note prices were much lower than expected in the hotel.
