Bad WiFi. The bathroom smelled bad. The AC unit smelled too. Carpet stains. Lights flickering in the hallway. A stale breakfast. I picked this place because of the indoor pool and spa. Spa was broken. Pool was poorly lit and generally depressing.
Stayed here a few times and trying progressively worse. Will not stay here again. Exercise equipment broken, hot tub heater broken, pool cool and cloudy. Wife left prescription reading glasses in room after checkout. When we realized and called 8 hours later, not found. Said they would check with staff in morning, no call. Called back a day later, no answer at desk.
this hotel was worth the short drive from the highway to stay at this hotel while on the road. clean ! indoor pool sounded fun for kids splashing. the hallway did NOT smell like old carpet and the rooms were clean and fresh. recommend the room with the whirlpool tub.
We stayed at Choice Comfort Suites in Christiansburg VA in 05/2018 for an overnight rest stop.
We look for a budget priced place when traveling, that is non-smoking, inviting and pet friendly. Because we are budget minded, we don’t expect the Taj Mahal, but we do expect a clean, bug free room in a safe location. This hotel met those qualifications.
AREA: This hotel seems to be in a secure area, fairly quiet location, nearby restaurants, and Easy On/Off Interstate via Exit #109.
BREAKFAST: Hot breakfast with the standard breakfast fare to choose from.
BUILDING: The building appeared to be well maintained (could be fairly new) and had a pool.
CLEANLINESS: There was no evidence of bugs (I look!), the bed did NOT have a yucky comforter but instead, used sheets that fully covered both sides of a blanket and a decorative throw at bottom of bed, the room and hallways appeared well maintained, clean and odor free.
ROOM: Room was accessed via hallway inside the building, on the first floor not facing the highway, with a parking spot close to building door entrance.
ROOM AMENITIES: The bathroom was pretty standard size with a tub/shower combo. The room had a king bed, table lamp with easily accessible electrical outlets for recharging my technology, a chair, sofa, table, coffee pot, dresser, mini fridge, microwave, two night stands, flat screen style TV with remote controls.
OFFICE STAFF: I found the Office Staff very friendly and helpful.
RATING SCALE: Let me point out my "rating scale". An average 3 star rating means clean, but there was dust along the floor boards. I give an "excellent" ONLY to places that have absolutely no dust buildup anywhere (including corners).
I use the following scale when rating:
1 star: Yuck… would not return
2 star: Slightly better, but still would not return
3 star: Budget priced, with issues that may or may not have been resolved OR higher priced location with unresolved issues.
4 star: Either a budget priced location with no issues OR a higher priced location with issues that were resolved
5 star: Either a budget priced location with no issues and the room and surrounding area was absolutely clean, newer, well appointed possibly with a hot breakfast provided OR a higher priced location with expected greatness due to being a higher priced location and EVERYTHING was worth paying the extra price and including a free hot breakfast.
Bottom line, 3 stars or better indicate I was satisfied and would stay there again.
We stopped about 130am while travelling home from TN. We left Chattanooga late and figured this was a good place on the journey to stop. It appeared clean from the outside and we thought it would be a good night sleep. Well first off, I am Choice member and I got a rate of $99 and was checking in @ 130am. Seriously, if I had not checked in, that room would have gone empty for the night (more than likely). I was trying to get my wife to check prices with her phone but she was having trouble and we just stopped. I had to produce a AAA card to get a discount to make it drop down to $89 per night. We got to the room to find hair shellacked to the furniture dried in to two places...Nasty. Then we needed sheets for my son for the pull out sofa. I was told to check the drawers in the room. There were none and the blanket was shoved in a drawer open. Most times, it is in a plastic bag, nothing. And it was dirty with black smudges on it. I went and asked for clean sheets and another blanket. The clerk seemed like I was bothering him. The bed was uncomfortable and low to the floor. The fridge, toilet and tub was dirty. Not impressed. Then latter in the morning, we got up and power washed and got the H-E-x-x out of there. I reviewed the bill after we left and was charged for use of the safe in the room. ARE YOU KIDDING ME. I was charged $2 for using the safe that was locked when we got in the room. You charge me because I have a safe in my room and didn't use it? that is like charging me an entertainment fee because the hotel has a pool that I didn't use. Will go elsewhere next time. The upside to this place was, housekeeping seemed very friendly and pleasant that I came in contact with.
