My husband and I spent a night at this hotel for a second time on our way to Florida. It offers easy access off 95 plus several gas stations to refuel for the next day. The hotel had been recently renovated. The check-in was smooth and the clerk friendly. We chose a king bed room with a chair and ottoman, desk and chair. There was a Keurig coffee maker, a microwave, and fridge. The room was very comfortable and clean, and there were plenty of outlets on both sides of the bed for C-Pap users and for charging devices. Setting the temperature in the room was easy, and the AC ran but not on and off which can be annoying. The bed and pillows were comfy, and the coverlet was a good weight, not too heavy as we've found in some hotels. We both got a good night's sleep.
For dinner there is a Cracker Barrel and Ruby Tuesday near by and also an Italian restaurant. The hotel's breakfast area offered plenty of comfortable seating and breakfast items such as scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, biscuits and grits, an assortment of breads, cereals, yogurt, and a pancake maker. The area was well stocked and maintained.
There is a fitness center, computers for guests to use, and cookies in the lobby which were very popular. The hotel is a good location for us, and we will definitely stay here again if in the area.
I thought what we paid was way high, but I was tired and ready to eat so stopped here because I know Holiday Inn Express and what to expect. The room was very clean and comfortable. Slept very well on the comfortable beds. Wifi worked well, and TV had good selection. Breakfast was usual Holiday Inn Express breakfast with the cinnamon rolls as star. (PLEASE - do not ever drop the cinnamon rolls from breakfast) Didn't use fitness center or pool (if they had one- I didn't even check). I was too tired. Other than the price, a very good hotel.
When you enter this hotel it becomes quickly evident that its bones are dated. It also becomes quickly apparent that there have been some very good efforts to update the establishment with new carpet, furniture, and bedding. Free wireless helps keep travelers connected (even if a bit spotty) and the hearty free breakfast should satisfy most with eggs, sausage, pancakes, pastries and more. If you arrive hungry for dinner, there aren't many options in the area, but a nearby Cracker Barrel is a decent "homey" option across the street. There isn't a pool, but there is a fitness center to help get you going before you scramble back in the car on your way to your final destination!
We stayed here on a Friday evening while driving north on I-95 late at night. I had originally called the Hampton Inn at the same exit to see if they had any rooms while still about 10 miles south of the town. The Hampton said they had plenty and to just come on in, so we got off at the exit and drove up to their hotel. The Hampton property is an old motel with rooms lined up on the outside and it seemed quite dark and dingy from the parking lot. The Holiday Inn Express was right across the street and is obviously much newer, with significantly better lighting and inside access rooms, so we went across there to see if they could take us before trying the Hampton.
Fortunately, the HI Express had a room and we were greeted warmly even though it was well after midnight. The lady at the desk was very friendly and once she saw my Priority Club membership card made a special effort to thank me for returning to a Holiday Inn property. She even discovered via their computer that I had stayed at this hotel on a previous trip more than a year ago and welcomed me back (I had forgotten about the hotel when I was driving that night and had just picked the Hampton off my GPS).
We ended up with a clean, comfortable room and everyone slept well. The next morning's breakfast was more than adequate with standard hotel fare (cereals, fruit, a hot serving of eggs, selection of breads, etc.). A highlight for the kids was a pancake machine that produced decent enough pancakes at the push of a button. An employee was in the area constantly refilling anything that was running out and keeping the area very clean. She wasn't as outgoing and friendly as the front desk staff, but certainly was very attentive to her task. We left shortly after breakfast and never checked out the fitness center or any other parts of the hotel.
The bottom line for us was this property gave us everything we needed for an evening on the road - a clean, safe and comfortable room, a decent breakfast, and a welcoming front desk staff. We enjoyed the stay and will certainly remember to look for this hotel the next time we need to spend a night on the road in this area of South Carolina.
Needed somewhere just off the 95 for the night on way to Florida.
Did the job adequately for $99 for a twin queen room. Clean and tidy.
Wife did use the treadmill in the 'gym' but said there was no aircon or wasn't on.
Complimentary breakfast was ok. Nothing fancy but good to get u back on the road if you didn't fancy one if the closeby food places.
I would use it again.
