I love Marriott brand hotels. This hotel really needs some work. When we first drove into the parking lot, I was afraid there was a mistake and they had closed! Weeds were overgrown throughout the landscaping all over. It really looked bad. Inside the lobby, everything looked great and the clerk was very nice at check in. The breakfast area was closed due to Covid. The restrooms, pool area and the fitness center were all closed as well, so I don’t know what those areas looked like.
The room was okay but is in need of some work. The drain in the tub had a rust stain around it and the ceiling over the shower was deteriorating. The room was clean but repairs and upgrades need to be completed to keep up with the Marriott name.
My husband stayed in this hotel previously for work, and he said it was a good hotel with a great breakfast. So, he stayed here again when his work required him to come back down, we just tagged along b/c it was summer. The hotel was accommodating to our need for a late checkout since my husband was down in Purcell with the car.
The room had a sizable fridge (guessing 4.4 cu ft) and a microwave. So if you needed an extended stay, these rooms would accommodate.
There are several restaurants within walking distance and the hotel is near the highway, but we didn't hear any highway traffic noises.
The gentlemen that checked us in was very friendly and helpful as was the gentlemen that checked us out. Even housekeeping was friendly, when we were walking out of the hotel room, she saw us leaving from the opposite room she was cleaning and hollered "thank you for staying with us, have a nice day" That, was a pleasant surprise.
Ok. Logistics
If you aren't used to big fluffy soft pillows that your head sinks into (which we aren't) sleep will be a little tough. Thankfully, there was a flat decorative pillow we used.
Also the pool area does not have a bathroom, I'm sure there might be one in the lobby for use, but that would a logistical nightmare for a mom with multiple children. Keep that in mind if you use the pool and you see a bunch of little ones in there. My son was under the impression that the pool was a salt water pool because of the taste left on his lips. We asked the front desk clerk and he stated it was not.
We spent one night here. Norman, Oklahoma is our half way point on a trip to visit family.
The room was clean. The refrigerator had a small freezer. The freezer was big enough to refreeze our cold blocks for the coolers.
The hotel has free WiFi and a nice pool.
The breakfast had the usual options plus a nice supply of fresh fruit.
We would definitely stay here again.
We visit the Sam Noble Museum in Norman a couple of times a year, this last time I decided to book a room at the Fairfield Inn because of the location and the price. It was nicer than expected, if a little bit noisy. The young man at the front desk was more than polite and helpful regarding the noise, which was great. The pool did smell overly chlorinated, but I hadn't planned to get in and the kids didn't seem to notice. They offered a free breakfast which was nothing fancy, but I wouldn't expect it to be for as little as we paid for the room. The beds were nice and comfy, and everything appeared sanitary so I was pleased with our stay.
This hotel has a great value for the price. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was really good! We wish the Wi-Fi would have been faster in the pool would have been bigger. Overall, our stay was very comfortable.
