I want to preface all of this by saying that I have NEVER had an issue like this with a hotel before.
I booked the Quality Inn & Suites North in Youngstown after 9+ hours of driving. I checked into the hotel at 9PM. I noticed the lobby and elevators were pretty dirty, but I don't expect much when I come to Choice hotels, so I didn't think too much of it. I unpacked in my room and ate dinner at the desk. When I went to get into bed, I noticed a huge red stain on one of the pillows that looked like dried blood. Then I flipped over another pillow to find the same thing. It was extremely off-putting and instantly made me question if the sheets were even cleaned at all-- while in the midst of a pandemic. I called the front desk and the lady told me to come down and get a new room but she wasn't the least bit hospitable.
I packed up all my stuff to move at 10:30PM. In room #2, I immediately went to check the bed before unpacking. As soon as I lifted the sheets, there were multiple tiny dead bugs in the bed. I called back down to the front desk. I told her "I have literally never had an issue with a hotel before, but there are dead bugs in this bed". She then proceeded to tell me that she's "never heard of any of this happening in the hotel before" in an accusatory tone. I told her I took photos or she can go check the room herself. She said she didn't want to do that an proceeded to blame me. She did not apologize. She did not offer a new room until I asked.
By room #3, it was 11PM and I was dreading what would come when I opened the door. Well, my first impression was that I couldn't even see anything because the light was broken; and then as I walked in, I noticed that the whole room had a horrible fishy smell. The sheets were clean though (thank god), so I settled for broken-light-fishy-smelling-room #3 because I have to drive another 9 hours tomorrow and I can't be f*cked to find another hotel.
