Booked via phone as they do not do online bookings, for a recent stay. Place was very dated. Not sure it has had anything done since it opened including updating of any bedding. Sheets and towels were so thin and threadbare. We had booked for 2 nights and were asked at checkin what services we needed, such as towels or having the bed made or not! The air conditioner was so old the owner had to come down to show us how it worked but made my husband walk back up to office to pick up towels so that owner could get back to his vineyard (attached to motel).. The kitchen facilities (fridge, jug, tea and coffee) were in the bathroom. Room was very musty and not sure when it last had a window opened. It has stairs leading to a tacked on balcony but no river view as advertised. Out of town so not within walking distance as we were led to believe. Generally not one to put up negative reviews but was so disappointed in this motel.
The quality of the living and service is incredibly disappointing for the price we pay. Staying in the cabins The beds are not made up when you arrive and you have to make them yourself. They tell you that you can only operate one air conditioner at a time in your cabin. There is no room service where they come in and empty your garbage or freshen/ tidy up, when you are out for the day. No complimentary coffee or tea or milk...ect....and all this for paying $100-$110 a night?! Also I was offered someone’s cracked and dried perused soap bar by the owner. I have stayed in much nicer places for A LOT less. Shape up or ship out guys!
This is my second stay at Kirriemuir Motel and Cabins and once again I was very happy with the room and the service I received.
As we were visiting friends and family in Waikerie, we stayed for just over a week so we were very happy that the room catered for all of our needs, electric jug and toaster, tea and coffee provided, a microwave, ironing board and iron etc. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. A lovely table and chairs were provided outside of our room so that we could sit and relax with a glass of wine at the end of the day without being confined to the room.
The motel itself was well maintained and the gardens provided privacy and were well cared for, making it a lovely place to stay.
The owners/managers and staff were very friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for us making it once again a memorable experience.
Well presented and clean, everything a traveller could need in the room, very friendly helpful service, great advice for my onward journey, my dog was welcome (outside). Would happily recommend to anyone.
Although the man at the reception were very firendly im very disappointed in thier hospitality. When my family arrived between 2 and 3pm they waited a very long 5 minutes before anyone came out to serve them.
When entering the room there were only two towels with three people booked into stay. There were no toiletries provided, no face washes or hand towels and only to small cakes of soap alredy opened!!
Although we should have complained right there and then, we instead headed of to the party we were invited to in town. When getting back late my brother was keen to get into bed. BUT IT WAS FULL OF MILIPEEDS!!! They did say that they were having a problem with them but it is no excuse. For $160 we are very disappointed with the hospitality and will not be back again!
