Food was abysmal, had to eat out all the time. Pool area dirty. Rooms badly cleaned. Poorly managed hotel.
Only good thing to say about the place was how good the bar and entertainment staff were.
Don't trust the Tui reps if you complain, they just pay you lip service.
Me and my boyfriend arrived at the beginning of September. We originally booked a pool view room as specified to the Tui staff when we booked so we were surprised to see a shared balcony overlooking the road outside when we first went into our room. This was quickly rectified and we were actually moved a day later. The rooms are actually really nice and modern and cleaned everyday. Our front door didn’t close on its own we had to really push it so I would advise checking your door before you leave the room just incase.
The food is just typical all inclusive food, no it’s not amazing Michelin star standard but it wasn’t disgusting. There was a Chinese night while we were there that had a lovely selection. We were there 11 nights so yes it did get repetitive having chips/burgers on every lunch and tea. But to be honest, we didn’t really care that much and treated ourselves to meals out a couple of times. The dining room staff were nice to us, sometimes our plates didn’t get collected for a while and they’d be piling up beside us as we’d go on to dessert. The food mostly had labels, some did, some didn’t which was a bit annoying, sometimes it’d just say “pork” or “chicken” it wasn’t very specific but I know people asked the chef many times and he was happy to help. They have like 6 toasters plugged in which I’ve never seen in a hotel before and you just have to find a free toaster and wait there so that gets a bit busy. It wasn’t too bad but I can imagine it being annoying at the busiest times when everyone wants toast.
Pool area is nice and clean however quite slippery, I did find myself trying to be careful not to slip. The slides were really good also. I actually did have an incident at the pool were a tile broke underneath my foot and my foot fell in. The lifeguard helped me and cleaned my scratches up and was really attentive, the only downside was the precautions taken from that incident, for a couple of days only a chair was placed over the broken tile and I was never asked if I wanted to fill in an accident form, I guess I’m being a bit naive thinking they would ask that but as the injuries weren’t severe I didn’t pursue it.
We didn’t have children with us, but the kids pool looked good and fun and kids were enjoying it everyday.
There was activities and things to do in and around the pool everyday like water polo etc.
The pool bar staff were lovely and jolly, the snack bar was basically just crisps, nuggets, chips and burgers, they were okay. I think there may have been salad and sandwiches but I never tried those so I’m not sure.
The reception staff were always really lovely and happy to help.
We didn’t stay at night to see the entertainment so I don’t have much to say about that.
Outside of the hotel we would recommend going to waterworld the water park, there’s a free bus at the bus station, you can buy tickets with Tui or at the ticket office there. The Barcelona city tour with Tui was great as well, we saw major attractions, had free times and travel. We also booked a romantic package scuba diving excursion with Tui which included 15 free images and a instructor just for us. It was really good and we had an amazing time underwater and we actually ended up with 50 odd images which everyone else had to pay €15 for. This was with Diving Center l’àmfora in Tossa de Mar. I would definitely speak to the TUI reps about some excursions if this is something you’re interested in.
There is also an arcade called Magic Park which we went to a lot, it was really good, quite a few games to be played, including dodgems, would be good for families. There is also a section with just adult machines as well.
Restaurants and bars we’d recommend would be:
- a Mexican called Panxos
- steakhouse called La Vaca Echada
- pizzeria called Pizza Marghe
- oriental express
- canaletas 1931
- Voramar beach bar
There’s so many bars, restaurants, clubs to choose from, especially on the beachfront which is too far or a walk.
Overall, we were very apprehensive to come after the many bad reviews and even seeing it in the news as a building site but it really isn’t that bad. The rooms are clean and modern, the pool is lovely and also clean, the slides are fun, the only thing that lets them down is the food possibly but it depends how fussy/bothered you are. There is lots to do outside of the hotel and the location wasn’t too bad being just 10/15 min walk from both beach and bus station. Transfer was about 30/40 mins if I remember correctly but don’t quote me on that as there was a few stops for different places and hotels.
Well firstly I cannot believe this hotel or tui havnt sorted the biggest issue out which is the food ! Why why would you not try and rectify this as everyone is saying the same !
We stayed here end of sept and it’s such a shame because we loved the hotel , modern , new , clean , lovely rooms , pool is great for kids , location great.
Entertainment was awful and check in took 45 minutes due to only one person Helping when there was 3 staff members there !
Now the food .... every night cold stale food the desserts was horrendous just fruit 1 cake and jelly every night angel bazam the resterante manager was a horrible piece of work he needs sacking straight away ! Wine had run out nearly every night ! Plates stacked up till we left the table ! The snack bar in the day should of been a health warning next to it ! chicken was left there from 11 till 4 in direct sunlight , exactly the same every day chicken , chips burger and nuggets l ! So so bad I can’t believe this was allowed to be kept out like it was just awful !
I really hope these reviews are read and something is done because it’s such a shame when the actual hotel is nice I wouldn’t stay here again because of this ! The tui reps should be doing more about the whole situation
We were a party of 16 meeting up from many countries for a 60th.
Had my partner and me been here on our own we would have not unpacked but gone elsewhere.
It began when the coach dropped us unceremoniously 200 yards from the reception at the bottom of a slope. The pavements are atrocious with many potholes and then there are a load of steps to navigate up before you finally reach reception with no help at all. Oh there is a disabled path but that winds around a load more shops.
Reception is caotic and straight away noticed the harassed tour reps getting battered non stop by disgruntled guests.
The room was spartan but functional and the aircon when it worked was noisy.
The restaurant was a joke with little cooked meat and long lines to get it if it was being offered. The floor was constantly greasy and slippy and the aircon as you walked in was always dripping (legionella? ) . The tables were left piled high with used plates and food on the floor. The wine often ran out and only one area ever seemed to work so again long queues. The food was barely warm and alway greasy.
The tiles around the pool are really slippy and I saw numerous people slip and bang heads/bottoms. There was only 2 waiters serving at the pool bar and you had to queue between the pool and serving hatch and there was a limit on what you could order. On the plus side there was always lots of hot pool snacks like burgers sausages pizza etc which was refreshed regularly.
The slides oh the slides! On arrival I think they had just been opened as during our stay the water got progressively dirtier and the area at the bottom had a dirty film on the plastic which made it really slippy. We saw so many people with bandages and plasters after having accidents. The staff weren't watching the kids properly so the kids would bang into each other.
There were probably 3 days out of the 7 that our room wasn't cleaned.
We stayed in the same sunbeds near the pools and this and other areas were not cleaned once in the time we were there with spilt drinks, rubbish and fag ends left on the floor.
DO NOT STAY HERE AND PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS.
Shame on tui/first choice for not dropping this dreadful place.
I'm currently still at this hotel 27/9/19 and to be honest I can't wait to go home. The biggest problem here is as other people have written the food. To say it is dire is an understatement. I don't usually jump on the bandwagon with these reviews but if previous people on here have reported it as bad trust me they are telling the truth. Wednesday night was interesting to say the least especially for vegetarians, who I know have a difficult enough time anyway with a decent option , but a big tray of overcooked sprouts REALLY. Pool area fine, rooms fine. Other public areas fine but lifeless. I have emailed TUI and suggested that they remove this hotel from their portfolio but that will probably fall on deaf ears. Some of the staff were really keen to try and make everyone happy but I'm afraid this has probably failed in most cases. The owners of this hotel really need to read these reviews and make sure they act upon the suggestions. Would I come back NO.
All questions will be answered honestly if you have read this and have any concerns.
