The room was quite basic. The water rose quite quickly on the shower floor. So be prepared! Otherwise no issues. The hotel has strong ecological views. They also collect some waste water. The location was good! Quite steep staircase. A couple of corners away from good restaurants and bars. The staff is multilingual and very helpful. Tours and tickets are available. Also drinks and travel guidebooks are offered to purchase in the reception. Wifi is only available at public spaces. The breakfast was really good! Some 15 mins from the airport!
Located in the oldest part of town the Casa Colonial is situated close to the waterfront, shops and restaurants.
We were in a ground floor room close to the reception area and the small courtyard containing a very small pool.
The room was very small and dark with a compact wet room. Because of it's location we could hear the general coming and goings of fellow guests which was not ideal for a good night's sleep.
For an overnight stay it was adequate. Perhaps a room on the first floor would be the better option. A good breakfast and pleasant roof terrace.
We stayed in Casa Colonial for a couple of nights during our trip through Cabo Verde. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Pool is not too big but clean.
The room (we had a family room in the 1st floor) was very spacious and clean.
We had absolutely nothing to complain about and can recommend Casa Colonial 100%.
The rooms at casa colonial are pretty small - nicely and tastefully furnished but hardly any space around the bed, and the bathrooms are small wet rooms. Once you get used to that though, the place is a lovely base - there's a beautiful courtyard with a small but lovely pool, great breakfasts, and incredibly friendly and helpful hosts, who leave homemade ponche out for you and are very hospitable. Good bookshelf. There's also a lovely roof terrace with nice views. Great location right in the centre. If you are ok with a small room that you may not want to spend too much time in, it's a great place to be.
Casa Colonial is the place to stay when in Mindello, São Vincente. Located near the port and the Presidential Palace in a quiet street. Its a little gem in lively Mindello. Beautiful rooms with their own bathrooms. A courtyard with a little pool to cool down. Beach chairs to chill and benches to write your memoires on or have the extended breakfast they serve each day with bananas from their own tree. Samira and her staff is absolutely lovely and they will go out of their way to make you feel at home, yet they are invisable enough to guarantee privacy. A roof terrass to retreat in the warmth of middays. Trust me this a the place to be when you are lucky enough to get a room. No airco but a ceiling fan that does the job together with the louvered doors to the balcony overlooking the courtyard.
Opposite is George's shoe craftsmanship place. A little place where a lovely guy called George makes you tailored slippers of all sorts and ideas you might have in two or three days.
So many things to do in Mindello with lively nights and local music and absolutely wonderful and friendly inhabitants.
Go there when in Cabo Verde!!
