➖ -No land phone in the room , we need to use our phone even to call “the reception” ... not practical from non-US number
-2 Very thin pillows on bed.
-Coffee machine available but no coffee bags ! How are we supposed to know that we need to bring our coffee and which kind ? Since there are so many different brands
So we bought a Maxwell instant coffee and used the microwave to heat water:)
-Poor internet connection , had to reconnect every 10min
-Very small washroom
-No facility at all in the resort , minimum 10 min driving to any store.
- Need to cross a busy street to get to the lake
- the only staff we saw was a lady at the entrance of the facility (office open 9 to 4)
➕ -Beautiful view on the lake and mountains
-Private entrance and patio
-Pool / playing area available
- Greeted by a nice lady who asked us to pay the full charges the first day
We rented a cottage( 2 bed rooms and kitchen, small eating space and living) and it was comfortable for 5. Nice front porch made the cottage bigger to eat. Free wifi was great even outside. Pool was very clean and access to the beach is a bit tricky to cross the street but it is worth to do free boating. very friendly stuff.
After reading all the great reviews we booked our week here. I review places all the time and I am mindful of giving a low-score review. This place is nothing like these reviews advertise. Everything is old and smelly. Beds with old mattresses and rough linens. The furniture must have been cleaned with wet rags since it had this musty smell and felt gross to touch. All screens had holes so either you got bugs to deal with or deal with the bad odors from the cottage. The bathroom was brand new but other than that, everything was old and in need of replacement.
The pool was not heated. The are some old aluminum chairs with traces of mold. The mini golf area is just falling apart. The playground is old and wood in badly need of paint and waiting for a kid to get splinters all over. Just like the decks in each cottage.
We failed to realized that this place welcomes animals. Perhaps the quality of animal-friendly places is really low. Or perhaps the good reviews are bogus. Whatever the reason, this place is a solid one star motel -- don't expect anything great.
We left after a couple of days and got a room in a beautiful place down the road. Yes, we lost half of what we paid for this place but it was either that or ruin our vacation.
If you need a basic cabin in the woods with minimal accommodations, this place is for you but at over $200 a day, I expected a clean bed and a clean room.
It must be said that the staff is extremely friendly and will go out of your way to talk to you and give you advice on places to go.
This was My family's first time staying at The Hills View Cottages and after our stay it will be the only place we stay from now on. We have vacationed to lake george often and were very happy this year. From the very helpful front desk to the fantastic view morning through night. The Pros: Helpful employees, discreet location, clean rooms, heated pool, kiddie pool, cant beat the view. The Cons: lot of hornets but we brought bug spray. We booked for next year the day we left.
Expected stay 2016-08-19 to 2016-08-24
We booked our summer holidays here at 200 $CAD per night and entirely based on trip advisor reviews. We stayed in what the lodge calls an efficiency cabin (#39). We also enjoyed the idea of having a BBQ so that we could save on some dinner cost and BBQ a few lunches.
The first impressions of the room was that there was an overwhelming smell of what seemed to be an amonia based cleaner. Also nothing was plugged in... the cable to the tv was not connected the lights were not plugged. WIFI did not work whatsoever (the hotel blamed recently installed cameras overlooking the pool). On top of all that we spotted on the news our first night that Lake George was closed due to excess fecal matter in the water. The hotel manager was not aware of this.
Despite all this we decided to stay
The first night my wife said she heard noises, i slept through it all. The second night however, i began to hear the noises, i woke up to two mice about 3 feet from my face, eating through bags and containers of the groceries we had just picked up.
We asked the hotel manager for a refund, she had to check with the owners, and they refused a full refund but rather a partial refund for the nights we wouldnt be using. Nothing for our groceries either.
Whats really frustrating is that they didnt seem surprised by the mice problem we had.
We also had to cut our vacation short as vacancy was limited throughout the region and prices had surged, we could no longer afford to stay the same amount of time at double the prices especially with a partial refund...
Thanks for nothing Hill View, we will never return.
