We arrived here at the end of our South African honeymoon for 4 nights after a 90 minute transfer from Hoedspruit airport. We only left last Monday morning and we are still high from it.
Where to start because EVERYTHING was PERFECT...
The staff were absolutely fantastic, they always had a smile- even at 5am, nothing was ever too much trouble. They made us feel so welcome from the second we arrived to waving us off on Monday.
The food was delicious, it was like eating at a top restaurant every breakfast, lunch & dinner time. The chef was so friendly also & always had a smile & a few words when we saw him. He came out of the kitchen a few times to ask if we were happy with the food. There was a menu left out every night for you to fill in what you wanted for breakfast the following morning. Portion size was just perfect. There was also a braai one night & we enjoyed that thoroughly. We live to eat & the food here was up with the best we have had.
The room was spacious & had a lovely view of the reserve -the fence (which was a ditch built into the ground with electric wire so you could not see it) was only a few metres away, along with the pool/bar/fire-pit area. We had room number 1- there are only 4 rooms which is great as there are only 8 guests max. There was a big bath in the ensuite & separate shower which was perfect when we came back from safari in colder weather. There was even candles and matches! Repellant was left in the wardrobe which was great although we didn't need it as the mosquitos hadn't really started appearing yet. A mini fridge had milk for tea/coffee & various soft drinks. The bed was big & comfy & every night there was a nice treat left on it by housekeeping. They also did their morning clean while we were gone on safari so it was brilliant to come back to a spotless room.
What absolutely made it for us were the safari drives. We had Nick as our guide & Khutso tracking and they were as we Irish like to say 2 of the soundest lads you could meet. They were so in tune and respectful of the animals, and so knowledgeable. We could have stayed out all day!! Just when you thought things were getting a bit quiet we would happen upon something else AMAZING. We saw 3 out of the big 5 on our first drive! We saw all of the big five and all on plenty of occasions bar the elusive rhino who we saw once. And we saw the other animals you would expect too! My husband has had a life long passion (obsession!) with lions & hearing a male lion roar & he got to hear that a lot of times while there also. On our last night we were woken to the sound of elephants trumpeting, hyenas howling, zebras screeching & lions roaring- there had been a kill. Then we looked out the window of our room and saw a male lion walking past the camp, a few metres away from us, calling. A completely surreal moment. So exciting. The following morning our brilliant driver & tracker had found the lions & brought us straight to them & then on to the lionesses & their 2 kills afterwards. The perfect end to our safari.
One of the best things about safari in Klaserie Is that there are not many other jeeps there- so there was a maximum of 3 vehicles looking at any animals at any one time. We might meet another jeep on the road only once or twice during a drive.
This was a life changing experience for us. We have not stopped thinking about our adventures since we left & we are constantly looking at the clock jealously when it comes to safari time! Some of the best days of our lives were spent here. To see these magnificent animals in their natural environment going about their normal day to day routines was just fascinating. We were actually happy to leave (though it may not have looked that way!!) because we had such an amazing time - but it was very hard to say goodbye to it. We find it difficult to put into words. We were touched emotionally & spiritually by the animals. Particularly when we would have a sighting at night time and Nick would stop the jeep & everyone would go silent. There may be a herd of elephants walking all around the car, paying us little heed. Then you look up at the sky, see the stars, & just think this is what life is all about. We were only there 4 nights but it felt like a week such was the value of it. Such a special, special place.
Love this place. The food is awesome. The game drive are exceptionnal. The room is very cosy and the bed is so biiig !! The pool is very nice.
Definitely come back there !
The service if perfect and adorable !
From the moment we entered in the lodge, we knew we were in the perfect place for our Safari vacations. Molly received us very gently and gave us a really helpful orientation.
The lodge is really well decorated, the room had everything we needed, the bed is huge and comfortable.
Simon prepared us the best meals we've ever tried. Breakfast, high tea and dinner were always amazing.
Goodness was always at our disposal and prepared a delicious ice tea for us.
Emily and Cucho were the perfect Safari team, they made their best to show us all the animals, and they achieved it. Their knowledge about the wildlife is incredible.
Brenda also was very kind with us at every moment.
Thanks Amani's team for the perfect vacation time ever!

Amani is one of a kind. You'd almost want to keep it secret. We did lots of research and comparison, all the reviews we read here convinced us to book there. And we have no regret ! Klaserie is a beautiful reserve. We were there early March 2019 for 2 nights. It's very intimate (there are only 4 rooms). There were 8 guests when we were there, including us 4. Sometimes felt we had the place just to ourselves. We were travelling with our 2 girls (11 and 7) we had an en suite family room, rooms 1 and 2. Rooms are very big and beds super comfortable, nice large bathrooms. Staff paid great attention from the very minute we arrived to ensure we had all we needed and made us feel at home. The welcome is genuinely warm and you can just tell people are happy to work here. Mollie and Godness were absolutely lovely. They are here when you need something but they are also very discrete the rest of the time. Which is just what we love. Food was good and cooked fresh by the chef JB daily. The pool is not huge but it was nice to relax there during the day when returning from game drive and before going back on the evening game drive. The garden was good to, and allows for the kids to play and wander around safely. Our guide Emily was amazing, she is passoniate and very knowledgable. We did 4 game drives in total (open car), and were lucky to see some leopards, tons of elephants (near the waterhole of the camp), 1 buffalo, wild dogs and other really cool encounters whilst discovring the beautiful reserve. We tried hard to spot the lions and rhino but missed them. Surprise of nature. Klaserie drift is very focused on conservation and animals well being and we like this way of travelling. We truly enjoyed our time there and dream to go back one day if we can.
No words could describe how wonderful our stay was. From welcome to leaving we were made to feel so special. JB is the host with the most! Nothing is to much for that guy, An absolute legend. Oli is a genius In the Kitchen! The food is amazing. Bedrooms are amazing, beautifully presented. Sitting round the fire at night watching the watering hole is truely special. Last and not least Vivian your guide is brilliant. His knowledge is second to none and works tirelessly to make sure you see as many animals as possible. A true 5 out of 5 stay.
