For the location and purpose of the stay, this was the idea hotel. However, we did digital key with digital check in and entered through the back to get to our fourth floor room. The elevator was very dirty and needed a vacuum and this made me uneasy for the rest of the stay as I noticed the tub hadn't been wiped down either. I worried that other things in the room may not have been properly sanitized.
Staff was amazing. Hotel and room were very clean. They attended to every small detail to ensure you had a comfortable stay. Service was great. Only problem is the thin walls as we could hear our neighbor snoring at night.
The only really negative is the building is laid out in such a way that it feels like a maze to get to and from your room or to the lobby. Everything else was alright and breakfast was much better than most other hotel chains.
Stayed here just one nite but we liked the quiet location & that it was away from a main road. Wal-Mart nearby. We had a king suite. Comfy bed, small bedroom, but it had a sitting area and kitchen (didn't use). Two flat-screen TVs. Shower/tub combo with toilet in a separate room. Sink was outside of the tub/toilet room. Only one soap. Breakfast so-so (depending on what items you like). HOT coffee! Liked the furnishings, especially in the sitting area. Wood furniture had only a few dings. Friendly front-desk employees.
We are Hilton Diamond members and try to stay at a Hilton family hotel when possible. The Homewood Suites in Troy, MI, is ideally situated to many amenities including the Somerset Collection and numerous excellent restaurants. It’s also just a short 3 mile drive to tony downtown Birmingham, MI, where our son and his family live. I recommend requesting the top floor facing away from Walmart that’s right across the street as it will be quieter with far less light intrusion to help sleeping. The staff at this hotel is outstanding and offsets the somewhat dated but perfectly functional, and clean, Suites.
