The motel is located virtually steps from the beach. The beach is wide and allows leashed dogs to explored its caves and tide pools. The room is immaculately clean and the bed was very comfortable. There is a surprising good complimentary breakfast served daily. The motel is located on the main road through town but it is very quite after 10pm. When you reserve your room tell the them your dogs name and they will creat a hand painted water bowl with your dogs name on it.

A few steps to the sand; an ocean view from our personal outdoor table outside Room 1; continental breakfast that includes fresh fruit, hard-boiled eggs, and a variety of treats.
Very friendly and totally accommodating staff.
Grassy area for all visitors with individual tables and beach furniture available...ocean view!
Beach toys, chairs etc. available if you want to actually "go onto the beach". Dogs encouraged and accommodated...fenced area for dogs to relieve themselves as well.
You are able to walk anywhere along Main Street to go to any of the non-chain restaurants /coffee shops/points of interest.
JUST A NOTE...we will always stay here when we come to Cayucus, even though we no longer have a dog. The rooms are immaculate, and during our four-day-stay we were never disturbed by dog noises or behavior. On the contrary, we had a great time playing with the owner's dog and meeting other dogs and their owners.

Where else could you arrive with 3 dogs over 100 lbs and be welcomed with open arms? The personnel were uniformly warm and friendly, the room clean and well furnished, but the real draw here is the location, right on the beach, and the total commitment to our furry children. This is a small motel that makes you feel like family.

My husband and I stayed at the Cayucos Motel for three days last week. We were lucky to find a room, since the trip was a last minute attempt to escape the heat and we were traveling with our 8 month old Brittany. When we arrived, we were greeted with a dog bowl with our dogs name on it filled with dog toys and treats. This motel is indeed a "motel", reminiscent of the old motor inns of old. The rooms and bathrooms are small but clean. Each room has a refrigerator and small coffee pot. Outside amenities include a large grassy area with lawn chairs and tables, a view of the beach, which is steps away, an outside shower (great for washing off a sandy dog or person) and an area with a ping pong table and fire pit. A simple continental breakfast is served daily which includes bagels, toast, fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, etc.
The location is ideal for walking around Cayucos...one of the few beach towns along the central coast which has retained its original charm. The staff was extremely accommodating and the other guests friendly, and we enjoyed the unpretentious and relaxed feel of the place. Don't expect anything fancy, but if you are looking for an easy, laid back time at the beach...this is the place.
