Lemu Lodge was fantastic, from the first email we received after making the booking, through the pickup at the airport, the lodgings, the meals and through to the drop off at the airport. Marcos is a gracious manager and host, and all the staff quick with a smile to help in any way to make our stay memorable. Great room, delicious breakfast and memorable evening meals. Thank you Lemu Lodge.
My husband picked this place for our 2nd and 3rd nights in Rapa Nui as it was a 1.5-2 hour hike from our first night hotel on our first full day, and... WOW.
Okay, so we ended up renting bikes, not hiking so the ride was shorter, but coasting down the hill to find Lemu Lodge was the highlight of my day. The property entrance is through a field, which at the time had cattle and horses grazing. I love animals, so this was a wonderful treat. Chickens clucking, the horses judging and the cows... well, you had me at moo (so to speak).
Check in greeted us with a delicious glass of fresh juice and a snack of savory treats grown on the farm.
The rooms are beautifully decorated and the property is 100% sustainable on solar power, which is awesome - travlers be mindful of shower hot water times :) - if you forget, no worries, the outdoor shower was refreshing at room temp.
THE BEST PART - THE FOOD. Note: I am still thing about my lunch yesterday. All fresh local ingredients and everything homemade. The salmon on our first night was the best we have had! The pasta yesterday was simple, delicious and know I will be telling stories of it for many years.
This place was wonderful and I would try the morning yoga and horseback riding next time... it is worth coming back to.
This is in my opinion a great place but not suitable for everyone.
The lodge is located some 10 minutes away from the town and is located in a local farm, so it is disconnected from everything. At night you just hear crickets, the ocean which is just accross the road and see the lights of the cars passing by occasionally in the road ahead. At daytime you hear the cattle and the chickens. Adorable.
There is no signal for internet or phone and hotel offers wifi in the common room but unavailable at night, so if you are a person who needs to keep in touch this is not for you.
There is hot water but on a “ask first” basis as they have to turn on the generator.
The rooms are spacious, chic, clean and comfortable. Construction is a bit light though, so you should keep noises down to prevent upsetting neighbors. no tv or radios.
Breakfast is delicious, varied and served for you on your table as soon as you sit.
This lodge offers some private tours which may be pricy but totally worth it as they are private and led by local people who can take you to sites off the books. The owner, who is a lovely man, actually runs the horseback riding tour to the Terevaka volcano.
This was in my opinion a great place to run away from work and exhaustion, changing stress for 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep and 12 hours of trekking and cave exploring. Would pick this place again in a second. However, I am clear that this may turn out to be uncomfortabe and unbearable if you just want your typical fancy hotel to be pampered.
