Close to everything what you want to see and do is this renewed B&B and Villa. We enjoyed the Villa with our grand-children. The rooms and beds are clean. For a 1.92 mtr man, the beds could be longer. The pools are clean! Great breakfast. Werrner and his staff are very friendly. A perfect place to come back.
My Partner and I only had the pleasure of staying in Ardecco for 1 night during the December holidays. However the reception we received was welcoming and friendly and the guesthouse was clearly very well maintained and looked after with lots of things to offer such as discounts on local attractions, lovely swimming pools and decking area to have a braai. The rooms had everything you could possibly need when travelling which is very comforting. We would definitely return.
My wife and I booked a three night stay here in January, we left after the first night and had our arrival not been so late at night we would not have even stayed for the one.
On arrival we were immediately greeted with an apology for the filthy green swimming pool and a rubbish skip situated in the car park, when taken to our room a second apology followed for the bedside light that did not work and the question, from the manager, can I deal with that tomorrow I am out of breath from the stairs.
The room indeed did have an Art Deco bed but the photograph does not show the wardrobe that was covered in matt paint, the dressing table area that was made of chipboard and covered with torn and peeling anaglypta wallpaper or the toilet area shoehorned into the room corner with shower unit outside and I cant overlook the resident cockroach which had to be encouraged to leave our room. The roof terrace came complete with discarded cigarette box on the stairs and empty beer bottles on the table.
I recognise that this is not England but the Cape usually has high standards and I can only say that finding most of the electrical appliances in the room running off of a 4 socket trailing lead led me to wonder about the safety of the premises.
And so to breakfast, the journey to and from which, involved stepping over discarded brooms, mops and buckets whilst bypassing a pile of lounger cushions abandoned atop a deserted bar area. The food for breakfast was okay.
On checking out the next day my complaints were met with an apology and " the owners are not here so I cant do anything". Eventually, via email, it was suggested that everyone else had thought the accommodation fine, it was inspected as okay and therefore all was well. They couldn't find the cockroach!
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, I say be careful when you look at the pictures of Ar' Deco.
What an amazing stay. Peaceful, relaxing and beautiful. My fiance and I made a late booking and opted for the De Lempicka room, which we found was perfectly situated by one of the splash pool, braai area and dining area. It was an intimate room with lovely, modern, minimalist, clean decor. The customer service at Ar'deco is outstanding. From the time we made our booking to the time we dropped our room keys off, we were well taken care of. We will never forget the warmth with which we were received and hosted. This is definitely a place to consider if you're going to Knysna. We are, without a doubt, going back. Thanks to the whole team for a lovely stay.
