Decided to stay at the hotel for one night, since it is nearby to a friend's wedding reception. As VVIP user of an online booking website and with some cashback in my account, plus special offer from the booking site, we booked a room at a low price.

I don't know if it was our old proton car (my husband drop me in front of the lobby before searching for parking space that turned out just along the shoplot (this hotel does not have underground parking)) makes the front door staff (bell boy, except he was a 40+ older man) questioned me if I come to the right hotel, indicating that we might "belong" to other hotel which is Metra Square. He questioned me without any help to get my luggage; that's insulting. The hospitality mark was reduced right there, right then.

Then we get our booked room, however the room was a little dusty especially on the table top and cabinet, plus a weird cigarette like smell which we ignore, because it might be because of my early pregnancy sense of smell, or because everything in the room is new.

Our room located near to utility room or staff discussion room(?)that we can hear the discussion out loud. In fact, if you just walking or standing in the corridor, you can hear every conversation from other room. The wall is pretty thin, left us a little uneasy feeling about that.

The main reason i choose a 5 star hotel in Malacca (we are from less than 2 hours drive from Malacca) for only 1 night because i wanted to enjoy the Spa, as well as the breakfast buffet the morning after; but i disappointed to know the Spa is still work in progress, and the breakfast could be better for a 5 star hotel. Other than the pastries, everything else is mediocre; the most disappointing was the luke warm, diluted and bleak black coffee. I have experienced many other 5 stars hotel; this one need a huge improvement in hospitality, attitude of some of the staff and housekeeping. I've been strict on reviewing because of the star rating, i would say otherwise if this is 3 star or less.

I choose this hotel because of the positive review from agoda and what I can say is you should pick this hotel. The duty Manager was very helpful in helping me to setup a birthday surprise for my wife and my wife really like it. The staffs are very nice and helpful added with the large room and artful decoration, it was really a hotel experience. Excellent choice and will definitely choose this hotel if you a looking for romantic getaway.

We stayed at this hotel during the recent long weekend holidays. This is a new hotel, less than 3 months since it opened; hence, everything still looks new. I give them this rating due to good value for money. Initially the room that was given to us had a strong cigratte smoke smell, and we requested to change rooms which the hotel staff obliged. The subsequent room that was given to us also had some weird smell but we just tolerated it and accepted the room and stayed in it for 2 nights.
