Neat clean great breakfast courteous staff We really enjoyed our stay and it was centrally located to everything we wanted to see while there. My husband liked the pillowtop on the bed so much he has been trying to find one for our home. My only minor complaint was we were in the room next to the staff closet so we heard them all come to work and roll out the carts early each morning. They even have a nice pool area. They have a full breakfast with a lot of variety and different things each day as well as the basics. The coffee was delightful!!!!
First of all staff female person was not friendly at all. Did not speak or even welcome me to hotel. I asked for a room not near pool but was given one on the second floor above pool. We have stayed here several times even when it was the Hampton Inn and I knew there were rooms with single beds not by pool. Secondly the bath tub was not clean, we went and bought something to clean it, thirdly the bed was extremely high off the floor. Fourthly the breakfast was cold the eggs, meat, and the biscuits was as hard as a rock. The only thing that was hot was the coffee and and waffles that we made ourselves. Fifthly there was a big space between the door, you could see daylight. Six ,the water never got hot. Finally the same female staff person checked me out and still had a BAD ATTITUDE!!! We will not be staying there anymore. BEWARE GUEST.
I booked this hotel because it had such good reviews. Jokes on me. This hotel is terrible. After 2 rooms, I FINALLY got a clean room. My first 2 rooms had stained sheets, bugs, the counters were sticky, floors are stained and dirty, lamps were dusty, the tub paint was chipped, the fridge knocks really loud and barely stays cold. The phone in the elevator is busted. You have to slam the door hard for it to latch so your door doesn’t fly open. The “complimentary breakfast” is awful. Cold eggs, cold soggy potatoes, and stale bagels. This is one of the WORST hotels I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in some lesser hotels. If it wasn’t for work I would have gotten my money back and left the first night. I will NEVER stay at a Clarion AGAIN!
To begin with, my background is in the hospitality industry, so my opinions are based on years of experience.
The good: The curtains allowed for good privacy and kept the room dark. The water was nice and hot, though maybe too hot. I didn’t have my tools, so I had no way to measure the temperature. However, it felt close to being at, or slightly over the legal limit. The room amenities were up-to-date.
The bad: Horrible, horrible parking. Poor location. Too many “questionable” people meandering around. Room was not as clean as it should have been. The PTAC unit had not been serviced it months, as the coils were filthy and there is some sort of debris on top. It looked almost like mouse droppings or something. Also, the unit did not operate correctly. The toilet ran on and off constantly because the flapper valve was rotted. The micro-fridge did not work properly, as it barely kept anything cold. The TV reception kept pixelating on several channels; the channel selection lacked and the remote was generic, so there's no way to find a channel guide. The door did not seal well, as there was light shining around it. The door viewer is cracked, so it was nearly impossible to see out. Throughout the room you see places where things have been spilled on the walls and not cleaned, etc.
Overall the room lacked, as simple small details have been ignored. The most troubling thing, though, is the disparate treatment of, and attitude toward, white guests. I experienced this from the minute I checked in and heard the same from other guests I spoke with. This is definitely NOT a hotel I will be staying in again.
The room was quiet and clean. The bed was comfortable. The curtains kept the room dark. The breakfast was tasty. The food that was suppose to be hot was hot. There was staff on hand during breakfast to help with anything needed. The front desk staff was pleasant. We would consider staying here again if we return to Huntsville.
