I really, really liked this hotel - it's a little gem. The atmosphere was laid back, charming, original and we immidiately felt at home.
At check in you sign in, in a big book - like many years ago. We were invited to the small lounge overlooking the swimming pool to do this, and just liked the ambience of the hotel.
Got a nice, big clean room - and think we had the best room! It had a closed balcony with ac, where we sat in the evening with a glass of White wine, looking down in the small green garden(that even had a small see saw and slide for our daugther), and futher away the construction of the railroad/metro. Later we saw fireworks:-)
Bathroom was a little worn down, but clean and working - had a bathtub for our little one.
Dinner buffet was ok - nothing special, service was good, although the waiter was hard to understand. Choise for breakfast was limited, but we still left with a full stomage.
The big let down by this place, and the reason, for my low "grade" is the ac: it could not really cool down the room, and by 1 am, it was making so much noise + not cooling at all, that we had to call reception - who did not pick up the phone! So my husband went out to get someone, who could help, returned with a guy, that seemed to know the problem very well: ICE, so had to turn of the ac (leaving the fan running), to get the ice to melt, and the ac worked Again - untill about 4 am! Same thing. Needless to say, we did not sleep very well....
I would say: if you are travelling in the cooler months it would be worth staying here, as if I only judge the "feeling" of the hotel, it's one of the best I've ever stayed in (and that says a lot!), but avoid in the summer (from March I would think...)
