We had taken the twin a/c room while traveling in (1 night) and out (1 night) of Delhi.
Our stay at Smyle Inn during our travel into Delhi was uneventful. We arrived at Delhi by a late night flight and had a train out of Delhi early the next morning. The proximity to the railway station, and a nights stay was our primary consideration for choosing Smyle.
It can be a little difficult to find the place ... so note that the Inn is located on Chandni wali gali/alley.
We hadn't booked our return stay in advance, on reaching the Inn while making the booking for the return, I was informed that the actual price of the double room was actually 15% higher, and thus was charged 15% more for our return stay.
Our return to Smyle Inn a week later was an all together different experience. On arriving at 7:00am we were informed that we'd have to pay extra for half the day as check-in is considered only after 8:00. After much argument we were shown to our room on the condition that we speak to Mr Sharma and talk it out with him later in the day. Eventually nothing extra was charged considering 15% was already levied, and the fact that we'd informed Mr. Sharma, when booking, that we'd be reaching early in the morning.
Then ... it started ... there was a mouse in the room ... the family freaked-out ... the room was turned upside down ... and finally with the help of one of the boys we managed to chase it out. We were told that the mouse would have entered through the doors (a/c) vents, which we got sealed with duct tape. Barely did we have the room back in shape that the mouse returned ... and all over again ... the family freaked ... the room was turned upside down, the boys were called and to cut the story short ... after what seemed liked eternity we managed to get the little fellow out. This time I sealed all the crevices along the door with towels and clothes. Since our room was sealed the mouse went into the neighboring room where a European couple was staying ... and their adventure went into the night. We were just tooo glad to have gotten rid of it :) ... Thanks to the mouse we had a disturbed sleep.
Fuel to the situation was our observation that the entrance to 'Chandni wali gali' is used as an open urinal.
Have your expectations right about the place ... its just the right location for a Pahadganj/New Delhi experience, especially with New Delhi railway station at a walk able distance.
For us, our return to Smyle Inn was the deciding factor to this review which for us weighed as a bad experience.

The Positive:
Room was very clean and well maintained.
The hotel was very professionally managed, service was efficient, and my experience was good.

Needs improvement:
Bathroom is missing a place to put things like toothbrush, shampoo, brush, creams, etc. Also in the bathroom, the towel's hanger is right under the shower-head.
Breakfast is quite small, and not really filling - yet coffee was surprisingly good!
The blankets looked old, used and didn't seem clean.

Delhi was quite an experience for my father and I, it seems everybody is trying to rip you off.

There are two Smyle Inns along one alley, we stayed at the one furthest down the alley from the Main Bazaar. It was quite poor if I'm honest, my room was tiny and the window in it directly faced a brick wall. My father's room was much bigger with the same view, but completely flooded whenever he took a shower as his bathroom door wouldn't close. But overall I'd say the rooms were adequate for hostel goers, modern and quite clean.

The man on the front desk was grumpy, arrogant and unhelpful. The most we got out of him were a few grunts. I visited the rooftop restaurant a couple of times, I sat and waited 15mins in the restaurant before somebody came to serve me, I was the only person there and I only wanted a coffee which they only serve with sugar! I later realised that I was charged twice for that coffee but I was in taxi to the airport when I realised.

I hung around the internet area for a while on a couple of occasions but there was nobody there to help / serve me so I didn't use the computers after all, which was a huge let down as the the WiFi was rubbish and I couldn't keep a connection for more than a minute or two.

The best thing about my stay there was the airport pickup service, the taxi guy found me in a huge crowd of people so I was quite impressed with that. But overall, we couldn't wait to get out of there. We won't be staying again.

From pre arrival emails, all throughout our stay and even following our departure the communication and service from this establishment has been top class!
Harish the owner is an intelligent, kind man who is always helpful. He recommended a great dentist for me in Delhi. Always answered our emails promptly and helpfully.
Due to illness (no fault of the hotel) we had to extend our stay several times. Alam the manager was terrific in moving guests to allow us to stay in our room.
Ali on the tour desk is one of the most helpful guys you will find in India. He organised a mobile phone for me (even tried to unlock an existing one), always recommended cheaper and easier modes of transport and wouldn't accept a tip. He booked many of our trains (for 50rs! why bother dealing with the hassle at the train station).
Sadly we had to cancel our day trip around Delhi. They should advertise this more, repeatedly other guests would try and conquer the sights of Delhi using public transport only to come back exasperated. Everyone who took this 8hr private car tour came back happy. I think the price was 1200rs.
We did a 16 day customised trip of Rajasthan through Smyle. It was a super easy way to get around and it would be tough to find a private car and driver at this price anywhere else in the world. After recently taking the train elsewhere in India this option saved us loads of time. Especially recommended for those on time constrained trips. The car was super clean and comfortable. We had minor communication issues with the driver but an email with Harish and it was handled.
I recommend the superior rooms in the 2nd building of Smyle Inn they were much larger and more comfortable. TV had English channels. Plenty of hot water in the basin. The funny signs around the hotel will keep you entertained for hours. Wifi could be intermittent but when it was working it was the best we have had in India. There is also computers for use.
The only slight negatives were the uncomfortable pillows and old sheets but at this price you can't expect a lot. The rooms are a bit worn but then this is Delhi.
Thanks again Harish, Alam and Ali - I wish you all the best.

Hi there is no hidden cost. All rates that you see in our site are final. Only thing is room rent more than 1000 which is superior and family rooms attract 12% tax extra.
