For spring break I went to CHIMELONG hotel. I think it’s a fantastic place with lots of things to see and do. Here are my favourite top reasons why I believe everyone should visit there. Firstly they have a gigantic swimming pool that is very deep. Secondly they have a lovely Safari Park. They have white tigers ( and of course baby tigers ). Thirdly they have a fun paradise that has fun rollercoasters. To sum up, if you go there you won’t regret it!!!!
This hotel is really big. We were facing some difficulties with the recent reconstruction (cleaning carpets). We had to change our room 3x because of bad odor. It was very uncomfortable because nobody was able to speak English and it looked like nobody actually cared. It was a nightmare to try to get any extra information (transport, other activities etc) even in the front desk. The outside swimming pool was closed but for inside you have to pay extra. The price is different in main lobby and in the spa!
We stayed over a weekend with our 2 kids since we wanted to visit the safari park. It was conveniently located to view the attractions like Safari, amusement park and circus. However the hotel lobby, restaurants and most of the facilities were thronging with guests and most of the time seemed busier than a rush hour metro train.
It mainly caters to Chinese domestic tourists as most staff did not speak English (although they were very friendly) and to use all the amenities you need to use the local payment systems. Despite the expensive room rate, the amenities were lacking - we did not have wifi most of the time. We could not bill any of the meals and other facilities used to our room - although they had a tight security procedure at check in including taking all our pictures etc. At meal times esp. in the White Tiger Restaurant, the procedure to get a table was tedious i.e. one of us had to queue up to pay for the meal first before we could get a table. And the staff were not particularly kids-friendly during this whole time. The buffet layout was confusing with the dishes spread out at two far ends of the room - so often resulting in lots of walking back and forth to fill your plate.
The swimming pool looked fabulous but it was closed from 12-3 every afternoon - so pretty much limiting the usage to it's hotel guests at prime time.
The zoo access was convenient with frequent shuttle buses or taxis. But besides this, it was far from a relaxing or luxury hotel experience.
We stayed 2 nights in this huge hotel. It took a while to get oriented with the locations. The rooms are separated in different buildings. So if you have somebody in your group staying in a family room, and you are in a regular superior room, expect to be separated.
We had a family room, and i must say, the room is quite huge. We had 2 queen beds joined together, plus the cutest bunk bed good for 2 kids. It can fit a comfortable 6 people i think.
The hotel itself is massive. You'll need time to explore the place. They also have different restaurants, but the famous one is the White Tiger Restaurant (where we had buffet breakfast). You will see 3-4 white tigers there, and also lots of flamingoes! We didn't manage to check out their other amenities like the pool or the gym arae as we didn't have enough time.
They also offer free shuttle service to the Safari park nearby. The circus is about 5 minutes walk only, and the waterpark can also be done in 5-10 mins walk as well.
Overall, great stay in this hotel! Would recommend staying here if exploring the Safari, Circus, Waterpark or Paradise.
I stayed the the Chimelong hotel for 3 weeks and could have stayed more. The staff is well trained and competent, most speak English enough to get you what you need. The pool is expansive and clean, but no lounge chairs. Restaurants are good, the bars are too expensive, but beer is sold in the basement store for about $2 a can. There is a bowling alley and games room down there too. The foot massage is heavenly and affordable.
