Went here for a few days and it's a nice hotel. Staff is very friendly, mostly German speaking, main audience of the hotel also seems to be German. The resort was only built this year so it's all in a very good condition, though it seems to be being cleaned well so hopefully it will stay that way. Though the way you can also tell that it's new is that there are a few design flaws which I hope they'd fix. The design is very modern and stylish, however this may also be an issue as some of the items in my room were already broken. Things like drawstrings on drawers and doors that already came off. Hope that this would be upgraded in the off season to something more sturdy.
One big annoyance which they really need to change is the minibar though. It's nice that it's filled every day with water, soft drinks, etc. However it has a glass door, the light can't be turned off and it's VERY loud. So I ended up unplugging to manage to sleep better. The people at reception said that it's a known problem and that they will replace them, I really hope they will.
The food is overall quite average though, there's enough of it but it didn't seem the highest quality in some cases. In some cases I was expecting a bit more honestly. Selection is decent but I've been to places with bigger selections without losing quality, even if all inclusive.
The resort isn't right at the beach, it's in between a lot of other resorts next to the main road, the road didn't bother me but outside there was some sort of pump that was really loud. Not sure if it was for the Side Royal Luxury or for the next door resort but sleeping with an open door sure wasn't an option. The beach is about a five to ten minute walk away, so it's very much doable.
The beach is also nice as it goes into the sea quite shallowly for the first part, so it's also usable for kids. There are plenty of sun beds and there's also food at the beach. What is a very nice touch are the fridges in between the sunbeds with water and Ayran which you have full access too. Though the opening times of 10:00-17:00 for the fridges are a bit too short, when it's hot sometimes people go to the beach earlier than that. So I would say 9:00-18:00 would be better times to unlock the fridges.
Amenities like the spa, indoor pool and gym are in the resort next door which it shares the grounds with. It's easy enough to get here but on arrival the whole layout is a bit confusing.
The pool area I wasn't really impressed with, it's just too cramped. To get to the beach exit you have to walk in between the sunbeds and you have to really duck when you don't want to hit the parasols. I don't really see how they could improve this, the grounds are small enough as it is.
This is another thing I was missing, some more green on the grounds, it's pretty much completely full, no gardens or anything.
What has to be taken into consideration when going here is that it's in an area that's filled with resorts. So it's not really walking distance to sights or anything. You'd always have to take public transport or rent a car to get places.
Our trip to Side Royal Luxury Hotel was a great experience for the most part.
- Lovely view over the pool with a balcony that was of a good size.
- Room was well decorated, and the bed comfy.
- Room was clean and tidy when we arrived.
- The room amenities were sufficient, everything you required was provided.
- The mini bar contained Coca Cola, Water and Fanta Orange.
- The A/C kept the room cool enough for most of the time.
- Charging portable devices was easy, plenty of plug sockets to use as well as a single USB socket on either side of the bed.
- Hot drinks amenities supplied, such as coffee, tea, kettle and sugar.
- Storage space was plentiful. Plenty of places to store clothes in the wardrobe (pictures).
- Free safe is provided which is perfect for peace of mind whilst staying.
- The bathroom had a marble finish and everything was well maintained and looked after. This added to the room and didn’t look out of place.
- Shower gel, conditioner, shampoo, hair dryer, towels and plenty more supplied as to be expected from a 5 star.
- They even had a unit in the corner of the shower to store your own amenities!
- We had to request multiple times to have the mini bar and hot drink amenities replenishes. On multiple occasions tea was replenished but no the coffee that we had used daily.
- The A/C only worked when the balcony door was shut. This wasn’t an issue, the issue was that it didn’t turn on 90% of the time when we closed and locked the door. This required multiple attempts to eventually get the A/C on.
- The A/C didn’t go lower than 20 degree Celsius which is quite high considering how hot it is out there.
- The WiFi in the room was horrid. The signal was dire and 99% of the time couldn’t get a WiFi connection. This was a problem as I couldn’t use roaming abroad.
- The daily dining experience was excellent, always plenty to choose from.
- The made to order food was the best, always delicious!
- Servers were attentive and always replenished your drinks when empty.
- The dining room was well presented and decorated.
- The staff started taking food away 30 minutes prior to closing which is ridiculous considering food is served until 9pm!!
- The staff would start laying tables for breakfast way to early making guests feel uncomfortable which eating.
The pool was fantastic, always clean with the beds in fantastic condition. Word of advice though, if you want a bed then get down super early and put your towel down. People had a tendency to reserve beds all day, go to beach and then come back late afternoon. Sometime, they’d do this and not even use the beds!! Only real downside is no drink service around the pool, I expected this as other 5 star all inclusive holidays I’ve been on I’ve provided it.
The staff were always engaging and asking holiday makers to join in. They were a lovely bunch and really animated!! Couldn’t have asked for more.
The transport to the beach was free of charge, and when at the beach there were plenty of sun beds to use. My advice is to get there early and grab one right at the front. You can then pull the bed under umbrella if want shade, or pull it out if you want the sun.
This was a fantastic holiday asides from the cons that effected the rating I’ve provided. Would recommend staying here is the points I’ve provided aren’t a make or break for you.
Location - about 40 mins from Antalya airport via private transfer. The hotel is on a small side street but right outside on the main road there is a long strip of bazaars, markets and shops. There is also a 'Mall of Side' and a Mcdonalds, all within walking distance of the hotel. There is a new Aquapark, which has apparently opened quite recently but we were not able to visit this but according to a member of staff, it was only a few miles away and not too expensive as compared to the 'Land of Legends' Waterpark. The hotel is surrounded by other hotels.
Rooms - We had a standard room which was clean and comfortable, grey wooden flooring with white walls. We did not have a swing in our room though, as demonstrated in the pictures. Our room consisted of a double bed (which actually was quite big), a sofa which can be used as a bed, a desk, chair, kettle, minibar, hair dryer, safe, charging port, shampoo, conditioner and body wash are also supplied. Unfortunately, there was no iron available and if you wanted laundry or ironing doing, there was a charge. The room also came with a balcony which looked out onto another hotel next to this one. There was daily cleaning.
Staff - Some were extremely friendly and some were the complete opposite. English wasn't a familiar language to most. Would have been nicer if the receptionists were warm and friendly given they are the first point of contact at the hotel.
Hotel - I tried to do extensive research into this hotel before making the booking but took a risk as the information available on the internet didn't do justice as to what exactly this hotel entails.
Firstly, I tried to email the hotel regarding transfers a lot prior to the trip but did not receive a response back so we made our own arrangements using a very good company. We got 5* quality for an affordable price. I also emailed the hotel and made a request at the time of book several months prior that the two rooms we were booking be next to each other. This also did not happen and we were given two rooms on top of each other on two different floors. We were told at the time of check-in that our rooms because our rooms were not next to each other, they had been upgraded to Family Rooms but when we went to the rooms, they were in fact not upgraded. When we asked the Hotel Receptionist about this, they said they had made a mistake. After speaking with other hotel guests, they said they were told the same thing.
The decor of the hotel is very chic, modern and clean. The hotel is only 6 months old. There is endless supply of food and drink. There are apples and biscuits with lemon water or cucumber and mint water upon arrival, there is also the Lobby Bar. The hotel offers Free Wifi everywhere.
The confusing thing about this hotel and what they don't tell you on the Internet is that it is in fact 2 hotels next to each other, whose facilities you can both use. Side Royal Palace Hotel (SRPH) is the original hotel and Side Royal Luxury Resort and Spa (SRLRS). Both hotels are connected via terraces. SRPH has a pool with 4 slides, I think about 1.4m deep everywhere. There is a baby pool attached with a small slide. This pool has activities such as zumba, the rumba dance, music, dart competition and generally a more social pool. SRLRS has a pool with no slides and the baby pool is in the corner and is shaded but even in July, the water was quite cold in that one.
There was a Disco that occurs 3 times a week, a kids play area, a mini disco for kids (the staff go around the hotels recruiting children for the disco which then happens by the SRLRS pool in a 'Royal Arena' staging area. There is also a dinosaur that comes round and greets children.
The terraces are beautiful. SRPH terrace offers shisha/water pipes for 10/12 Euros and a Juice Bar which you can also buy drinks from. This place closes at 1:30am.
Food is in abundance. Breakfast occurs from 7am-10am and then there is late breakfast from 10am - 11am. Foods such as eggs, sausages, salami, breaded food is all available. Lunch is served in the SRPH hotel from 12:30pm. A large variety of food such as spaghetti bolognese, nuggets, burgers, hot dogs, salads are all available. There are even people in their own areas serving salads, pizzas etc. There is a lady who makes Turkish pancakes by the pool for a few hours every afternoon. Waffles are also available between 3pm and 4pm. There is endless supplies of water in fridges by both pools as well as ice cream.
The hotel has a gym and a hammam. I had a Turkish bath but it was not that great as compared to a Turkish bath I had many years ago. They did not scrub using the towels properly. They also gave a massage but the door was left wide open and all the noises of the staff talking could be heard from inside. Since the ladies doing our massage had pulled our tops down whist doing the Turkish bath, I felt quite uncomfortable that a male member of staff would walk by and look in while we were having our massage! There was also a fish spa where you could put your feet in and have the skin removed by the fish biting your feet.
The beach was not too far from the hotel and you could walk to it but due to the hot weather, the hotel provided a free shuttle service every fifteen minutes. There was again, endless buffet available at the beach also and each hotel within the vicinity had their own area where hotel visitors could sit.
