After a short trip to Delhi we were very happy to stay at Villa Camelot – the Oasis of Harmony and Joy!

Hospitable hosts, Raghu and Yamini, provided us a LARGE and VERY clean room and bathroom, tasty breakfast and nice company in the evenings!

They were very helpful with finding routs, booking bus tickets and as far as the football championship was going on they invited us to watch matches on TV together with tasty popcorn and passionate cheering!

BTW there is a nice place on the ground floor to find a Lighthouse Cafe with welcoming owners and special menu.

Next time we are in Bangalore we will undoubtedly prefer to stay at Villa Camelot!!!

We spent 3 nights at Villa Camelot in January at the start of our 2 month visit to India, followed by 1 last night at the end of our trip, in March. It couldn't have been a better beginning and ending to what was a truly fabulous 2 months spent travelling around Karnataka. This was largely because of the fabulous hospitality we received from our hosts, Yahmini, Raghuveer and their 8 year old son Dhairya.

The house is very spacious and situated in a little oasis of calm in a suburb of Bangalore - Whitefield, which is about a 45 minute drive from the airport. Our room was really comfortable and quiet which meant we could get some much needed sleep in the middle of the day following the long flight from the UK.

Yahmini and Raghu are so friendly and personable and a mine of information - whatever your needs. They will go out of their way to help with any practicalities - which in our case meant getting a mobile Sim and Dongle sorted out. Not as easy as it sounds!! However with Yahmini at our side at the Airtel office sorting things out for us we were successful and endlessly grateful to her throughout our trip whenever WIFI was hard to find.

Villa Camelot has a number of long term guests who work in Bangalore but live in other parts of India which are too far away to commute to and fro every day. They come together at mealtimes for food and chat, sharing stories from the day, with each other and Yahmini and Raghu. We were delighted to become part of this friendly family style atmosphere and enjoy good conversation and banter with them. It is a great thing to be part of and really helped us to start to understand "real" India.

During our stay, Raghu prepared lots of fabulous homecooked meals and both he and Yahmini shared tips and advice on Indian cooking for us to take home with us. Now all we have to do is put it into practice!

Bangalore city centre is approx 45 minute bus ride from Whitefield but the volume of traffic driving into the city means this could take longer. Nevertheless the pleasure of staying with Yahmini and Raghu more than outweighs any benefit of staying in the congested and busy city centre. It is a joy to come back to at the end of a busy day's sightseeing.

In the short time that we stayed at Villa Camelot we forged a real friendship with our hosts and are still in touch with them now we are back in UK. It is a testament to their warmth and welcoming manner that we will only ever choose to stay at Villa Camelot on any subsequent visits to Bangalore

Travelling in South India in the main tourist season without any reservations can sometimes be challenging. By asking via email for a room we were just desperate and it was pure luck that we got a room 2 days before arrival. We could not have been any happier. We stayed for 4 nights. We got the friendliest and warmest welcome we have ever received in a guesthouse before. The guesthouse is well hidden and our rickshaw driver was a bit irritated, but he finally found it, Everything is super clean - in a way we had not experienced it before in India. I do not talk about "indian clenaliness". Even for the pickiest european traveller - this place is ultra clean. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom was huge and had plenty of hot water. There was enough space to put our stuff in a cupboard. WIFI was excellent. And at night - it was quiet and peaceful to sleep. Yamini and Raghu are amazing hosts. We had long evening talks, they helped us whereever they could, drove us to the bus station and simply took great care of us. Breakfast was huge and yummy as was dinner. We felt so very welcome and found our home away from home. When we left, we left as friends.

The only downside of the place: if you want to explore Bangalore CBD traffic can be really annoying. It is in general easy and cheap to reach the town from the homestay by bus. But traffic is horrendous and it sometimes took us 2 hours or more to reach the central bus station. Anyway, if you plan a little bit and maybe do some sightseeing on the weekend it is quicker. Or take a private driver to reach i.e. the Iskcon. Your hosts will surely help.

Shopping Malls, great restaurants are not far away in Whitefield. It is a short rickshaw ride.

We will definitely come back whenever we are in Bangalore!

Dearest of Dear Nina and Markus , Greetings from Villa Camelot ! This response is a tad bit late in the day , was trying to figure how to get by on the ipad with these features :) . We have had a lovely time hosting you both ; don't remember the last time we laughed as much as we did when we would sit up late and have our ' Chai ' conversations . It's wonderful to have crossed each other's path in life , we learnt so much from you two , stay happy , stay blessed , look forward to seeing you back again . Cheers - Yamini / Raghu / Dhairya and the Furries

Arriving at Villa Camelot is just like coming home. It is a real home stay - in the sense that you live with the family, you chat in the kitchen with a nice chai tea, you sit on the balcony in the evenings with the other guests and have a great time - you enjoy your breakfast and your dinner with the family and the other guests. And believe me - you enjoy the food - Raghu is an amazing cook - he should open a restaurant, it's delicious.
The atmosphere is cozy, Yamini has this eye for details, which makes the difference to other places. The rooms are nicely designed, spacious and always spotless clean. It is the warmth of this house and the family which makes you love it.
I stayed there twice so far - first on my way to Mysore just for a night, and on my way back I stayed three nights - I just loved it so much. So whenever I'm in Bangalore I will stay at Villa Camelot. If you are looking for a place, where you can feel at home and also have the privacy and the room quality of a four star hotel - this is the place to go.

I loved Villa Camelot, I was there last August for 10 days and It was the best place I stayed on my whole trip in India. Yamini and Raghu made me feel like home (they are always willing to help and give you the best service). My room was very clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The food was phenomenal, everything I tried there from breakfast to dinner was very fresh and yummy! I also really enjoyed sharing with everybody at dinner time, learning more about their food and culture.
