Emboo River Camp was amazing. I couldn't have picked a better place for my stay in the Masai Mara. It was so nice to have practically everything all included - food, lodging, game drives. They helped with booking the hot air balloon ride and transportation from the airport to the other airport. I felt safe and it was crowded or anything. They consistently kept the room spotless. Breakfast was awesome as was lunch and dinner. Lunch had an appetizer, entree, and dessert. That really bumped it up a notch. It was nice not having to pick what to eat and just enjoy. Snacks during the campfire were really tasty. Don't hesitate to book here! We saw so many animals too in such a short amount of time.
In this place you have a life time opportunity to see all the big animals. I've been to Amboseli and Hell's gate before but Mara is incomparable. I was only there fo 24 hrs, but we saw lots of lions, lionesses and cabs, giraffes, hippos, bucks of all type, elephant herds.
The camp is very new and in excellent condition. Nice tents by the river, en suite, all clean, fresh, with traditional design. The staff are very very very friendly. The cook is worth a Micheline. The game drives are professional, they know where to take you and spot animals right on.
With just 6 tents we (3 friends) were the only guests in the camp and had the attention and care of all staff.
I found this stay and the visit overall tailored for my needs and exceeding expectations.
My husband and I went to Nalepo Mara Camp in Feb 15 for a weekend, on arrival the vehicle and rangers were waiting for us, it was a very short drive to the camp. The camp itself is on the rustic side, but comfortable. We were the only people being accomodated that weekend, so we had the place to ourselves. The Tent/room was comfortable and clean. On the rustic side, the staff have to fill up a camping shower for washing everytime you want to take a shower. The tank of the shower is limited, so a quick shower is advised. I did not enjoy the food at the camp, as we were not given a choice at all but the food was just prepared and served. The food was grossly over cooked, and dry. I am not sure if it was because the camp was not fully booked so the choices were limited? . There are only plug points in the "bar" area, so none in the tent, so charging of camera batteries and phones has to be done in "bar" tent with a generator. The staff were very friendly and tried to make the experience a good one. I felt that our ranger was not as experienced as I would have liked as he did not really converse with us as much as we had hoped. But overall the experience was enjoyable and we saw loads of animals in the Mara, which is always a great experience.
