+1
The hotel is new, fair prices, excellent', clean room. Well equipped. Modern furniture. Good swimming pool.
The only disadvantage I could say is the bath water was weak in room 216
Suggestions: complete barrier between bath and the rest of the bathroom to avoid spread the water in all the place.

I just finished a nine day stay at the Braira and enjoyed the stay overall. Was in Riyadh on business and was being hosted by another organization who placed me at the hotel.

It's a fairly new hotel that'r modern, sleek and nicely appointed. Lots of marble and the feeling of opulence without being ostentatious. The staff were friendly and helpful. Check-in at 10pm on a Saturday night was quick and efficient. Bags were brought to the room quickly and service overall remained quite good throughout. Waleed at the front desk was always helpful when we needed laundry done (and then laundry found because it wasn't brought the room the same day), printing done or sorting out confusion with our hosts on who was going to pay.

The rooms are a bit on the small-ish side but are well appointed. In a land where everything is spread out and big, the room size was a bit of a surprise. More marble, and the finishes are very nice. They fit a king-sized bed, lounger, desk, side stands, a small table, mini bar and a luggage stand in the room so you're not really wanting. The bath features more marble, an open shower with rain head, but the odd thing in my bath (226) was the placement of the toilet paper roll - it's a bit of an awkward placement that requires a little contortion to access.

Shampoo conditioner, soap, shower gel and lotion are included, as are hand towels and an assortment of essential male and female toiletries. There's also a shoe brush and large shoe horn in the closet, along with an ample amount of hangers (even lingerie hangers) and his and her bathrobes and cotton slippers.

For western travelers the lack of a big widow has to do with the Arab mentality of privacy and protectionism. As you go around the city and look at the houses and apartment, you'll notice the diminutive size of the windows or lack thereof - it's part of the culture here. So, if you're desiring of an expansive window to see the outside and let the sun in, best to look at one of the western hotel brands, like Fairmount, Hyatt, etc. The other side of this is that it's like a cocoon when you turn off the lights and you can sleep for hours (a plus).

There's a pool but it's the beginning of December and a bit chilly for me to swim, though we did spend a bit of time dining poolside. The main restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets with nice meals (the evening grilled seafood feast was my favorite). The breakfast buffet is expansive and would take the better part of week to fully explore.

The coffee shop lounge offers drinks and meals 24/7 (room service is also 24/7) with a menu that covers a bit of ground for all meals. The burger is pretty good, the Spaghetti Bolognese isn't a rich creamy sauce but rather a light and bright meat ragu, the club sandwich is good but is quite different than the western version - featuring beef and egg as part of the mix.

Qurtubah is kind of like a suburb from the center of the city (around Freedom Tower) - which is about 25 minutes away by car. Riyadh is an expansive city so what looks pretty close on Google Maps is probably 15 minutes away in reality, so plan your travel accordingly.

Something else I should note - burning Oud (a type of wood) as a form of incense is very popular in Arab culture. The hotel has oud emitters in each hallway. Some may find the aroma to be unusual and though I enjoyed it, your mileage may vary.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Braira and recommend it.
