Having stayed at this hotel in February of 2019 and also being friends with a lady who is resident in nearby El Gouna who has brought friends over from the UK for the last 3 years to this same hotel, when we had a function to attend in Hurghada, this hotel was the obvious choice for our group of 4.
Our friend had purchased the booking for us as a gift for birthday/wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, an error was made online with the booking and instead of what should have been 2 adults per room, the 2 rooms were booked for single occupancy. My friend realised her mistake immediately and spent over 30 minutes trying to reach Booking.com by phone to no avail. As it was late at night, she said she would try again first thing in the morning.
6 phone calls and 2 hours spent in the morning, she was initially told that it would be fine as the rooms booked all have max occupancy of 3 persons.
We arrived at the hotel for 3pm to be told that there would be a massive financial increase to include the other 2 guests to the rooms. As the costs seemed astronomically high, we searched prices on the internet again. We found 2 rooms for 128 USD each. The manager refused to honour these advertised rates.
Our original booking was approximately 124 USD per room and the confirmation email confirmed Max. 3 guests per room.
On arrival we were told that only 1 guest could stay in each room and we spent a total of 3 hours debating with both reception and the front office manager. We were then presented with a bill for 330 USD. Somewhat staggered we tried to negotiate but there was absolutely no flexibility whatsoever and no willingness to help.
As we would have lost over 330 USD at this point, we agreed to stay/pay but asked if the hotel would allow our friend who made the booking to join us for a drink before going out for the evening and to be able to join us for breakfast the following morning free of charge. Once again, they refused with a clear lack of consideration flexibility, compassion and displaying no desire to look after loyal, returning guests.
The GBP costs to us at this point totalled £255. When we then went to pay by card and this payment was taken in local currency Egyptian Pound EGP and as the hotel clearly offer an incredibly poor exchange rate and the final costs rose to a staggering £280 sterling.
Needless to say, my friend is now cancelling the 2 weeks she had already booked for February 2020 whereby she was due to be joined on the same vacation by 14 friends from the UK.
We will also never stay at any Sunrise resort again due to our experience on this occasion.
I would have liked to have included something positive within this review, however, we ate three times during our stay and none of the meals were of a quality that we would expect from a 5 star hotel.
Incredibly disappointing and we feel as though the hotel exploited us financially and did not even met our expectations when we agreed to pay the extortionate amount.
Needless to say neither us or our friends will ever recommended this chain of hotels again.
We spent around two weeks in Sunrise Hotel. We were a group of 16 people.
It's a family run business, 100% guest oriented, you feel welcomed from the moment you arrive.
Amani and her family, always there at the hotel taking care of their guests.
Shukri outstanding manager, we always saw him there, it was like he lived in the hotel, and Neveen always trying to help.
Maha and her team making sure every room is perfect.
And the restaurant team knowing exactly what each member of the family liked for breakfast.
They all go above and beyond their duties to make you feel at home. Making sure everything you need is well taken care.
Sometimes is difficult to travel with children, but the Sunrise team made it so enjoyable that they constantly asked us to return to Sunrise during the rest of our trip (we travelled for over a month and stayed in 5 stars hotels). My family valued feeling home away from home beyond anything else.
Thank you so much Sunrise Family! We miss you!
Two buses full of Christian pilgrims totaling more than 90 people checked in to this hotel for three nights a couple of weeks ago. The staff were quite friendly, helpful and attentive, they got our luggages in our rooms in no time. The rooms were very clean and smell fresh. With a short notice, we needed a big room for a function one evening and the management was quick to arrange a room for us and get all the things we needed for that evening. Being one of the coordinators of the tour, I was quite impressed by the management's responsiveness to our needs and we have some elder folks who needed closer attention and one who needed medical attention and they were all attended to including bringing a doctor one evening to take care of the medical need. Also, we were provided plenty of food choices for breakfast and dinner, they were all fresh and cooked well. I could not say enough good things about the hotel and specially the management staff, the hotel is family owned and you could feel the family atmosphere of the place from the moment you step in and welcomed with a cold drink. This is definitely a permanent stop on our pilgrimage tour of the Holy Land in the years to come. Overall great experience, two thumbs up and very highly recommended for small and big groups!!!
The room are bad in term of view and staff is very impolite.
Side room are facing closed views .
Restaurant is entirely closed .
No proper ventilation.
The view is towars a garage of cars.
Bad food and very greedy owner he offer no water or limited water .
The hotel looks amazing but there were a few problems that interes me. The floor in the room was full of what i hope was dust. But the most bothering thing and embarasing was at dinner when i bought a bottle of vodka from the store close to the hotel and a person from the staff came an YELLED at me that it is not allowed. I understood and hid the bottle under the table but that same person wold not leave the table untill i finished diner and left P.S. there is a hotel 300-400 meters with beter conditions and less expensive.
