Not my first time at Abuja. Had engagement around Garki so stayed close by. Good location with restaurants not too far off. The hotel was very neat and simply furnished. Nothing extravagant, which is my style. Have to admit the room seemed too tight.
It had all the amenities and the wifi was quite fast for work with a considerable number of channels on the cable tv. It was very neat and that was fine for me.
Really friendly staff, good bedrooms and services compared to the prices. The restaurant is the weakest link, takes a long time for them to take orders and to serve you, sometimes almost an hour, they do not have change almost all the time......The people at the reception are the most helpful and trustworthy. It is a very safe place with a friendly staff with a fair price compared to other places in Abuja.
A little hard to review this hotel, as it's the only hotel I have stayed at in Africa. The price is ridiculous high compared to hotels I have stayed at in Europe, but I'm aware that Abuja is an expensive city. The hotel is safe, no doubt about that, and the waiters are quite friendly, but it's hard to find more positive things to say about Angeles. The breakfast is really a joke - have never experienced anything worse - and even though you are paying for a double room, it's only free for 1 person! There are only handkerchiefs for 1 person too. The room was worn, but quite big, the bed too hard. We woke up every morning to a lot of noise outside the window - people from the hotel fixing the laundry - quite annoying on a romance holiday. There's internet in the room, but very slow. We had a lot of powerbreaks the 9 days we were staying at Angeles, but none of them more than half an hour. If I should recommend this hotel, it will mainly be because it's a safe place and because the alternatives could be even worse.
It was my first visit ever to Abuja and ditto my family of 4. I went based on the recommendations from this site and the good things are indeed true. It's a good place. About 20 minutes from the airport and 5 - 10 minutes from the city centre. The staff are kind and helpful. We eventually stayed at one of the suites and it was rooomy. Like all rooms, it had a PC with free internet connection. They even set me up with WIFI on my laptop. Wish they had a lift though for our suit on the 4th floor. The food was nice but as in most hotels expensive. Tip: There is a good 'fast food/good food' restaurant just across the street. They were helpful with transportation at very affordable prices and the driver was an able tour guide. Abuja is beautiful. we only had 2 days to stay, and would have gladly stayed longer at this hotel . The price is a treat compared to what others are charging.
The rooms are expensive. They told us they didn't have single room, which is not true. The Internet is working 5% of the time and it's really slow. The restaurant-bar is really bad. The food is expensive and not good. The complimentary breakfeast is only 4 slice of bread with a very little quantity of jam. The staff is really average.
But, the hotel is safe for muzungu.
We needed to call them about 10 times to received the confirmation by email.
