We stayed in Olivese but not at the Gite du Chalet Petri. Since our Airbnb did not offer dinner we called the Gite for a dinner reservation. Somehow (perhaps due to my subpar French + poor connection on the road) I managed to secure not only dinner reservations but also a room for the same evening. When we got there - Sandra, the owner, was extremely gracious and sorted everything out.
The Gite overlooks the valley and from the terrace one has an extraordinary view.
Dinner was outstanding - I am not a big fan of grilled vegetables but the antipasti we had there were to die for. The cheese and charcuterie are home made and the beer is made in the village. We had such a great experience that we returned the next evening. Had a great time talking to Sandra - she has a wealth of knowledge about the region and Corsica in general and gave us recommendations for activities in the area. Look forward to returning again in the future

Owners were very welcoming and were able to provide us with a basic dinner even though we arrived late. We had a double room and it was spotless. Only odd thing was that our private bathroom was down the hallway - we were given our own key for it! Despite the oddness, the facilities were clean and spacious.

The Gite du Chalet Pietri is a charming mountain village retreat. Worth the exciting. scenic mountain road drive! (Be sure to approach from the south.) We stayed in a family room which was as presented on the web site. Basic with comfortable beds. The only shared aspect of the hostel style bathrooms is the sinks. There are private, full length door toilets and showers. Don't let the hostel style sinks put you off this delightful, well organized, clean, warm and welcoming mountain site. The highlight is the al fresco dining overlooking the garden, the village and the panoramic view. The friendly hosts, in this gite bring local flavor to their tasty offerings and they are very accommodating of special food needs. Advance reservations for dining. Be sure to ask for an herbal tea from their garden. Lots of comfort in a small space. There are wonderful spots to enjoy a quiet moment in the garden and very comfy seating in the sitting room which offers tv viewing or quiet relaxation. The knowledgeable hosts can offer helpful tips for your visit to their area. They have inside scoop as locals. Put this site on your itinerary. It will add a special flavor to your visit to Corsica.
