I was here with a friend from Sept. 2 - 6, and the whole experience was just fantastic. Great location. The rooms as well as the oubkic areas, pool included, were always clean. The food was traditional and so well made barely had to go out to find locak cuisine. The wine was produced in house and was organic. However the best part of the trip was definitely the staff. Everyone from the receptionist to the maids was extremely polite and helpful. You won't regret choosing this location.

We stayed at Griffin's for five nights after our wedding and had an amazing time. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and had some great recommendations for things to do in the local area. The restaurant is amazing! All the food was delicious. The pool is gorgeous - clean and cool, with plenty of beds and loungers. Our room was also lovely. Griffin's is secluded, and you'll need to hire a car to make the most of it - we personally loved driving the winding roads and exploring the area. We would recommend heading to Lake Bolsena (hire a boat!) and Bagnoregio. We left feeling so relaxed - it's such a peaceful place.

Staff were friendly and helpful but struggled with their English. This wasn't a huge problem really until you wanted to know what the fire/emergency routine was and then it was! Didn't find anything on this in the room. No book or any details on the facilities of the hotel or things to do in the area, other restaurants, places to visit etc.
Location was lovely and peaceful and pool area was very pleasant. No services by the pool which was a shame. Restaurant food was very good in the evening. A bit hit and miss at lunch time. Watch out though, the restaurant is closed on a Monday! We were directed to a restaurant in the next village, Georgios. Very unimpressive! Poor in fact. The wine at the hotel was excellent, particularly from their own vineyard.
The hotel must make it crystal clear that a car is essential if you stay with them. Taxi to and from Orvieto was around 80 euros! Hiring a car from Orvieto was hugely expensive so would have been much easier and cheaper to do so from the UK. It takes about 30 minutes to get from the hotel to the Funicular at the bottom of the hill into Orvieto. Rooms were adequate if not a bit small. Too much furniture of the wrong type. Four chairs! Bed very comfortable, room and bathroom very clean. No balcony, so not somewhere to spend much time. Television only Italian channels. The breakfast was shockingly poor! Extremely limited and the same every morning. Because you are remote you are likely to eat breakfast there, so be warned. the hotel location is good if you like exploring, we did. You can get to some beautiful cities and see some wonderful Italian scenery. Overall, not somewhere I would stay again but most certainly would go back to the area. Orvieto, really beautiful.

From the pictures on the website and the other reviews, this resort looks like a little treasure, but we were really disappointed. We stayed in the family suite / appartement in a separate little house just beneath the main building. It was roomy, but with a standard far from what is expected of a suite. There was a bad smell from both the bathrooms, the whole appartement was dirty with spiderwebs and dead mosquitos stuck to the walls and roof, and there were noise from outside all night (probably from the pool pumps). Several other things can also be mentioned such as the outdoor light not working and they did not manage to fix it even when we asked for it, the shower towels were missing the first night, and the trash hadn't been emptied in the bathroom when we arrived. Outside, the garden and pool was not much better. The garden was unkempt and the pool hadn't been cleaned for quite some time and was full of green algea / moss. Neither the garden nor the pool was tended or cleaned the three days we stayed there in the middle of the high season in July, even when we commented to the reception that it did not look good. Furthermore, do not expect any high speed internet connection. There was free wifi, but it was so slow it was difficult just to Google, not to speak of checking e-mail. The only highlight was the restaurant with its lovely food. However, all in all a really disappointing resort.
