We collapsed in our room after a month of travel and in truth were not super excited about orientating ourselves to another city and checking off the sites to be seen. While sitting in the tiny sun balcony of our room, in this small 9-room owner run hotel, we looked out and there was the famous Golden Roof right before our eyes. This is a solid three star hotel - clean and with comfortable beds. But five star for location and very helpful staff and hands-on hospitality from owner. Rooms are on the upper level but there’s an elevator for those who don’t want to use the tight circular staircase or have a lot of luggage. Included breakfast was lovely and met standards seen in most good European hotels.
This hotel is in the pedestrian only area of old town which meant our taxi from the airport had to drop us off a block or so and we had to walk. I didn’t mind this even though we were travelling with an uncharacteristic amount of luggage. Taxis can enter early in the morning so our departure to airport was from the front door. Definitely recommend this place and I know that booking it takes a few extra steps as it it done old-school via email.
We are 69-something travellers and there were others in our demographic at breakfast along with younger couples.
The Weinhaus Happ is a quaint hotel on the main square of the Old Town. Loads of restaurants and activity on your doorstep. Small lift servicing all 5 floors in this narrow hotel. Room was fine. Breakfast was good.
We had a nice room on the 5th floor on the front of the hotel overlooking the square, great for people watching, not so good if you are easily disturbed by noise into the night.
Although we ate elsewhere the evening we stopped in Innsbruck, we did end up having dessert in the Restaurant which was good. Maybe we should have eaten there....
A nice place to stay. Would recommend.
The hotel is opposite the Stadtturm and close to the Goldenes Dachl, and my room had a view of both. The staff are really friendly. The breakfast is excellent, and so is the restaurant, with good value tasty food.
The hotel is located in the old town and rooms have a view of the golden roof. The rooms are comfortable and have newly fitted bathrooms, and are quite spacious, especially for the location. Staff are friendly and helpful and speak English. We had a car and were provided on request with a park in a public park about 250 m away, at a reasonable cost of 11 E. We also ate at the restaurant on one night and the food was very good.
It can be a little noisy due to sounds from the street below so a higher room is better but really this just added to the atmosphere and was all over by 12pm
My family of 5 stayed at the Hotel Weinhaus Happ in July of 2016. They did not have one room to accommodate all 5 of us so they put us in a triple and a double room side by side. The rooms were basic but totally comfortable. The bathroom had been renovated and was very nice,(see pictures). We loved having the front facing room and being able to look at the Golden Roof. It was a birds eye view! Really phenomenal! Also, it was nice to see all the people/tourists on the main square, which the hotel basically sits on. You cannot get a better location anywhere! Also, there is an elevator which was great. The price for the location and clean facilities was a great deal! I highly recommend and would definitely stay again. I am confused over some of the reviews of the hotel. It's obviously a budget hotel so why is it getting criticized for having basic rooms? If you want a higher level hotel, stay at the Hilton in Innsbruck It is a clean, budget friendly hotel right, smack in the middle of Innsbruck. If you are looking for a 5* hotel, stay at the Grand Hotel Europa in Innsbruck and pay the Price!
Breakfast was included in our room rate and it was a lovely spread of cheese, meats, breads, coffee and juice. The service was excellent.
If I am ever in Innsbruck again, this will be my hotel!
