There is no private parking as it states on the website. You have to drive your car to the nearest abandoned supermarket and hope that nothing happens to it, since in the street itself you can only park for 4 hours. Furthermore, the room was nice and everything was clean.
Booked for my birthday trip to Bruges. Unfortunately it's much further from the town than expected. Me and my partner walk fast and to get to the side of Bruges to eat in the evening it's a good 35 minute walk.
Our room was pleasant but small. We did book a small double but the toilet was where a closet would have been. So no privacy if you know what I mean 😉
The only place to hang clothing was on three hooks by the door.
There is a kettle but it's in the hallway shared with three other rooms.
And if using booking.com we weren't aware of tourist tax on top.
Overall not the best experience but the owner was nice enough.
We stayed here for a few nights having arrived on a motorbike to a friendly and warm welcome.
Our bike was parked safely around the back of the house and we were showed to the spotlessly clean room.
Ambrose helped us to plan our time and what to see and helped us navigate the public transport system.
We had a problem with flies in the room and with mosquito bites but bought some fly spray from the nearby Carrefour.
Getting into the city is a pleasant walk of about twenty minutes but once there everything is within a few minutes on foot.
A riverboat tour is a must and at just €7 per adult for half-an-hour is good value.
Heads up: the address on Tripadvisor and Google Maps hasn't been updated. The address is no longer on Werfstraat - the new address is 22 Kroonstraat, as of two years ago, apparently. It's a 15-20 minute walk to town depending on your speed, but it is a very nice, picturesque one. For the value of our stay, it wasn't a problem.
The owner/host was a very friendly, easy going guy with a good sense of humour. The room was very spacious and clean, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. There is a convenient telecom system outside the b&b door so that you can contact the owner without requiring a cell phone in case he isn't home to welcome you, and it buzzes you in. We were allowed to leave our luggage in the house, which was great so we could walk around the town hands free. There were many small things the owner had done that may not be obvious, but was a nice touch, such as having the heat on to warm our room prior to our arrival. Not necessary, but was appreciated. It seems to me that some of the negative reviews are a result of people nitpicking. We stayed just one night, but I wish we had stayed longer. We did not have the breakfast as we were leaving very early, but I would've loved to try it.
Wonderful authentic shabby-chic guesthouse. Owner was friendly and helpful. Was very quiet and let us come & go as we please - just a short walk to centre. Bathroom was huge - witha double bathroom & private balcony overlooking rooftops. Breakfast was discreetly left outside our room every morning.
Only downside was that outside parking restrictions were not immediately obvious (but no fault of the guesthouse).
