Positives: (1) P is an extremely personable and professional manager/front-of-house who made special efforts to meet requests and C was friendly and highly attentive as restaurant manager during breakfast service. These interactive experiences were valuable in fostering the spirit of personal service and “family” atmosphere apparent throughout the hotel; (2) Location very convenient; (3) Breakfast offer extensive and high-quality, even though a broader range of cooked options would be welcomed; (4) Partnership with a special, local coffee supplier provided excellent coffee under an innovative business venture; (5) Skis & Boots room convenient and efficient, even though the door lock was occasionally temperamental; (6) Excellent shower in bathroom.
Possible improvements: (1) Bar closes at 22:00 which limits appeal of spending evenings in there; (2) My single bedroom did not have any desk or flat working surface; (3) Towels still changed daily, even though instructions for retention followed; (4) A daily afternoon food item in reception area would be welcomed, for example homemade cake and/or fresh fruit
Good location, room was nice, but heating not working in the room unfortunetly. Only the one in the restroom was fine. Breakfast was average. Mostly cold stuff to eat. The price was very high, since it was last room I got, but I would say I didn't recieved the services
I expected, since I've payed almost 400 CHF for a night. No fridge in the room either.
I have stayed in so many family run hotels in both Switzerland and Germany in Alpine regions, but this was truly stand out compared to any previous experience I had checking all the boxes, from the sweet and polite manners of the staff ( particularly the sweet and lovely receptionist who checked me in) to the value for money aspect of the accommodation; to me the standard was a four star even tho this is a three star hotel!
The room was very clean, very comfortable bed and pillow ( wanted to request to buy the pillow and take it away with me!!), the interior of the room was way too above three star category, and the rate was very reasonable for a place so close to the ski lift and the town centre in Zermatt.
I initially made a one day booking, but the whole experience was so good I extended my stay for one more day.
My only suggestion would be that, given the chalet hotels have normally thin walls, it would be great if the cleaners in the morning could keep the conversation minimal as I woke up each day with the sound of their conversation while they were talking to each other.
Highly recommended, I would not want to stay anywhere else next time I go to Zermatt.
The hotel is in a great location next to one of the lifts to the slopes, in a city center. Staff is very friendfull, good recommendations for dinner. Nice breakfast served in a cozy room. The rooms are comfortable, fresh, very clean.Would come back:)
I stayed here for 4 nights in November 2018 while attending a ski course. The location is very good just a short walk from the station. You could catch a taxi but I walked with a wheeled bag and a pair of skis over my shoulder and had no problems. I arrived a little late and had emailed the hotel to tell them and on my arrival I found the key to my room waiting for me on the front desk and a nice note welcoming me to the hotel.
My room was superb with a lovely view to the Matterhorn. Breakfast was very good with a selection of cereals, muesli, ham, cheeses and breads with all the usual jams etc. I was not hungry afterwards.
I had to catch the bus to the ski lift and this left from just outside the hotel.
All in all I have no complaints and would be very happy to come back and stay here again. Thank you to all the friendly staff.
