This simple "pensión" was nicer than I expected. Our room was amply sized and cheerfully decorated. The location was excellent -- only steps away from the airport bus (as others have noted), and a short walk from the historic old town, including the cathedral.
The staff was very helpful.
The only negative is that the tub is not adequate for an adult, though it would be fine for giving a child a bath. An average-sized woman, I couldn't even sit down and extend my legs straight.
The hotel is on the second floor, next to the Park Praza de Galicia, a perfect location. The staff were very helpful, especially Gabriela with her very good English. We had a very nice and clean room, with a nice bathroom well equipped with toiletry. The hotel was ready to keep our luggage when we went to Finisterre, something we really appreciated.
Hidden away on the second floor upwards above a clothiers very close the the end of the line for the airport bus. The staff were very friendly and welcoming (when were you last shown to your room?) The room was light and airy, clean, well maintained and spacious. Nice metal shutters kept the room cool during the day and shut out the early morning sun. One hint. If traffic noise disturbs you ask for a room at the back.
With my adult daughter, I hiked the Camino from Santiago to Finisterre (about 100km with side trips) in May 2017. Because of my age (78) we decided to stay in hotels/hostals rather than the traditional albergues. In Santiago we stayed two nights in Hostal Fornos. It is just outside the ‘Historic City’ but right across the street from it. It is a real find. Friendly and helpful reception and check-out; clean and comfortable rooms; good beds; close to restaurants and nightlife; very reasonable prices (32€/single room/night). I would definitely stay there again; highly recommended.
It was really a surprise, as we did not expect so much for this price in Santiago in August. The Staff is kind, smiley, friendly and helpful. The room for the three of us was very clean, furnished with taste and with lovely small details we appreciated very much.
The hotel is easy to reach from the airport. Get on the airport bus and get off at Praza de Galicia: the Fornos is no more than 30 m from the stop (it might be a bit difficult to spot, as the entrance is by a clothes shop, but we arrived at night and saw the light sign..). The Cathedral must be no more than 500 m away. The ideal place for breakfast is the cafè Derby nearby.
