A few weeks ago a friend of ours ordered 3 hotel rooms at this hotel. Upon arrival we checked in with 2 rooms asking if it was a problem if our friend checked in later. The receptionist said no, not a problem, you can check in here 24/7. At 1 am that night we arrived at the hotel and apparently our 3 friend had to check in at another hotel ... while we reserved 3 rooms at this hotel. According to the receptionist that night booking.com made a mistake. While we had an official e-mail that said that booking.com reserved 3 rooms at this hotel. So motel one made a mistake ... they wouldn’t admit. Long story short, our friend didn’t get his room, we weren’t treated very well ... they didn’t admit their fault, our friend had to pay, after a long while we got “a compensation” at the bar. I can recommend anyone with complaints the Glenfiddich 18 year old, it’s the most expensive drink you can get.
Really friendly staff, comfortable room, excellent breakfast.
We appreciated being able to leave our luggage there after checking out, as our train wasn't until 21.00 hours. The location was good, and once again we were delighted with how we were treated at Motel One.
- location is close to the old city center - 7 min walking distance
- payed underground parking with direct access to the hotel lobby by elevator (15 EUR / day) payable at the reception
- very soundproof windows, although the room was with boulevard view with heavy traffic
- received free morning coffee at the reception, although we didn't have breakfast included
- very comfortable queen size bed
- the size of the room could be slightly bigger
- no fridge in the room
- the curtains are 100% opaque
Fist time in this branch of Motel One, and although the ambiance was much like others, I was disappointed that the rooms were not as big as other Motel One hotels I've stayed in, despite their comfort, and that the sound proofing between the rooms was not as good.
Also the seats in the breakfast room were quite awkward to sit on, some with no back rests, and the tables were very small - maybe this is a temporary thing given the refurbishment work?
The staff, as ever, were friendly and helpful, so that is a plus point.
Plenty of gin at the bar!!!
Not a place I would look to go back to in Cologne unless the other two were sold out.
I was not excepting such good overall conditions of the hotel and that’s good but as a negative the twin room is just one bed with two mattress. Should be two separate beds as I was sharing the room.
Breakfast very good.
Other negative point are the prices when exhibitions are happening in the city 3 or 4 times higher than normal rate.
