We were a family of 11ppl taking up 4 rooms in early August. The rooms were spacious, nicely decorated, functionally well equipped, clean and tidy, it was just almost perfect. The continental breakfast buffet was nice, with a wide and impressive selection of bread and tea. They have paid special attention in selecting natural and bio products to put on the table. There was even weißwurst every morning. The breakfast was adequate in itself, but if a few more hot dishes were added, such as mushrooms or bacons, it would be just perfect. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had very positive experience with a young lady at the reception who told us she started her job just a day before we came, and she recommended a very good restaurant downtown giving precise directions to allow us locate it with no effort. The housekeeping lady with a broad smile who had catered for all my needs and requirements without me knowing whether she actually understood English, but she had always assured me with “yes” and “ok” without further ado. Last but not least, a night shift staff at the counter with a cool face. He helped solve the most annoying problem of our TV, which I am about to explain.
There was a big flat-screen TV in every room we stayed. On the second evening, I turned it on and after making a few choices of channels, the TV was hung, there was absolutely no response to any button. The on-off button could not turn off the screen completely and there was no power-off. I couldn’t find the power cable connection either, presumably it’s concealed. As a result, there was an eternal light shining upon us when everywhere else blacked out. I went down to the reception to ask for help, as there was no phone in the room. The guy tried to re-set it for me at the counter, that’s what he told me, but it didn’t work. Eventually he had to come up to the room to check, and then re-set it on the floor level. The TV was finally off near mid-night. All the 3 rooms on the same floor had the same problem. My family told me the screen finally turned off “by itself” near mid-night. The following evening the same thing happened. This time, after maneuvering with the remote control the TV power miraculously turned off. For the rest of my stay I didn’t touch that TV again. I just didn’t want to go down to the reception late at night.
We stayed for 6 nights and returned home satisfied. Then a week later I got EUR24.90 deducted directly from my credit card. I didn’t pay attention to it. Another week passed and another deduction of the same amount. This time I checked. The hotel had deducted twice for 2 bottles of water presumably taken by us. The glass bottle was cute, but why would anyone want to take a glass bottle to travel with? And why 2 deductions a week apart? It would easily go unnoticed had it not for a currency that I don’t normally use. If I had not checked, would it not affirm their presumption? I must say they were responsive to my subsequent enquiry and quick to mend things by refund. The hotel had assured me that it was not their policy, nor a normal procedure to use my credit information this way. It was a mistake by an intern. As to why an intern was allowed access to such sensitive information, I didn’t ask.
After the story above, you might think I’m not happy with the hotel, but actually I liked it. It was comfortable and my family had enjoyed the experience. The incidence was appalling but I don’t think it should discredit a pleasant stay. And I hope they would live up to their words and improve their ways of handling sensitive information with discretion.
We just returned from a very enjoyable 3 night stay at this lovely hotel. The staff were so all friendly and made us feel very welcome. The purple haired lady in the restaurant deserves a special mention as she was incredibly sweet and friendly and very efficient at her job. We had a lovely room, with a separate sitting area, bathroom and separate toilet which was ample for us. Everything was impeccably finished and clean. The breakfast was the best continental one we have ever had! Everything from smashed avocado, houmous, pastries, fresh bread, cereal, yogurt, fresh honey from the comb and more tea varieties than you could shake a stick at! Something for everyone really! I would echo some of the other reviewers comments that some water would be nice in the room as well as tea/coffee making facilities and notepad/pens. The room was rather hot, even with the aircon, but we’d still highly recommend this hotel and would love to return! Very well located for Oktoberfest and the Wirthaus am Bavariapark, which we’d highly recommend too. Took us about 25 minutes to walk to the city centre which we needed after all the amazing food and drink we sampled during our visit!
Pluses: I'll start with the most interesting and unexpected discovery for us. This hotel is around the corner from the park where the Oktoberfest take place. The hotel is low, only a couple of floors, but quite long. It is located far from the city center but there is a small shopping center nearby if you urgently need to buy something or would like to go out for a walk in the evening. The room was small but comfortable. I really liked the convenient touch panel for controlling the temperature in the room. There is floor heating, including a bathroom. A curious and funny decision to make a shower with glass in the room itself, so that the partner can see how you take a shower.
The dining room is large and there are several tables on the street. The choice of food for breakfast is neither extensive nor small. I would say that it is a little more than moderate. I think everyone, anyway, will pick up something for himself. The food is tasty. Coffee is generally normal. The hotel has a small and decent bar.
Minuses: I'll start from the most unpleasant moment. As it turned out, the “do not disturb” sign does not always stop people from entering to clean the room. When we returned to the hotel in evening and found that the this sign was not hanging it was VERY! unpleasant and I complained. They apologized and promised to talk seriously with the service staff... There was no kettle, cups and pens and notepad unchanged in hotels. There was not even plain water, although after I asked about it, they told me that it should have been and gave a new bottle. There were no slippers, toothpaste (sold at the hotel) and shampoo, which was combined in one bottle with shower gel. The feature with breakfast tokens looks interesting, and perhaps it’s designed according to the thematic surroundings of the hotel, but in practice it is not very convenient. When it is possible to just come in, give the room number and/or surname - such tokens, it seems to me, are superfluous. To my question about how this works, when the whole family comes for many days and they take breakfast, lunch and dinner (do you get a bag of tokens?), They told me that they just give out new tokens when the old ones end. Doors open heavily in the corridor and in the room itself. I was very surprised and upset that one of visitors at the bar helped me to choose something, because, apparently, the bartender had problems with English... I think he doesn’t really know it.
Brand new hotel. The unfriendly unhelpful staff of the front desk does not even try to make up for the unfinished status of the location. The water from the shower floods the bathroom floor, no mini bar, the room is so tiny that you can not open your suitcase.
