The Splendid Hotel lives up to its name in every way. The staff were always friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The room was clean and well maintained. The rooftop bar, pool and breakfast room were an added bonus. We certainly will return next time we get a chance to go to Nice.
We have recently returned from our 8 night stay in the Splendid Hotel & Spa in Nice. This was the first time we had stayed there but we had gone to rooftop terrace of hotel on several occasions when staying in The Gounod Hotel next door. On arrival at the Splendid Hotel we were allocated a double room on 5th floor with balcony and afternoon sun all of which we like. We had nice room with plenty storage space, tea and coffee making facilities, free soft drinks, free safe and wi-fi, TV with a few English channels, table and 2 chairs inside and on balcony. There was a bath in bathroom with shower attachment. Room was kept clean and we requested it to be cleaned early each morning and this was done. Breakfasts in 8th floor restaurant were excellent and food good and plentiful. Spectacular 360 degree panorama of Nice from Rooftop Terrace. Also pool and jacuzzi on top floor. Hotel only five minutes walk from Promenade des Anglais. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. There is now a Tram from Terminals 1 and 2 into town which stops at Alcase-Lorraine a few minutes walk from Splendid Hotel. Lots to see and do in Nice and many places to visit along the Riviera. There is a Guide to Nice available in English at Tourist Office but you have to ask for it – not on display. We will certainly return to the Splendid Hotel when visiting Nice again and would recommend hotel to others.
Loved the Splendid! The area is perfect; couple blocks from the sea, couple blocks from the old village and steps away from shopping and restaurants.I have a single room that has a large tub, separate shower, separate toilet and is very clean. Free breakfast on the top floor as well as a pool. Hotel staff are extremely nice!
My husband and I along with a group of other travelers stayed here for a couple days before embarking on the Emerald Waterways river cruise. The hotel is conveniently located near the center of town and the Promenade des Anglais. It is in a quiet residential area where you can easily walk to many restaurants and shops.
The hotel concierge and staff are extremely helpful. We booked a tour to Cannes, Sainte Paul de Vence and Antibes on their recommendation and it was excellent. Very reasonable. Other friends booked tours through them and also had excellent results.
Our room was very nice with a small terrace overlooking (unfortunately) other buildings. Beds were comfortable, lots of space with a desk table, clean carpeting, coffee and tea in room, great buffet breakfast (but sometimes very busy and crowded), rooftop deck with bar, pool and hot tub(very scenic).
The only problem I had was the a/c system. It wouldn't get cold enough for me. I reported it to front desk personnel and even asked for a fan. Although they said they would take care of it, it didn't get any better. Another friend had the same problem. However, I must report that I need to have 65 deg. to sleep while others may not need it quite that cold.
The restaurant does not serve Limited lunch menu was very good. Sandwiches, salads, quiche, etc. We would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
My wife and I have chosen to stay at the Splendid hotel in Nice for the past four years.
We travel there during August as the weather is fantastic and it now feels like our second home.
The hotel has to be visited and experienced personally as their website doesn’t do it justice.
The moment you arrive you will experience the excellence you will be staying in, the receiving staff at their wonderful reception will give you immediately the confidence that you are staying in a hotel that cares and has the high class to match.
This year we stayed for 7 nights, the team at breakfast treat you as an individual and remember your requirements for the duration of your stay.
On the top floor you will find paradise...paradise on every level.
The view is amazing, the pool area is exactly what you want without the pre laid towels and over crowding.
This experience is then followed by a team of FANTASTIC people that run the whole area and bar.
I’m unsure of who the bar manager is as they all act like a bar manager and deliver the perfect service.
One name will always spring to mind as we have now seen him on two of our visits.
He his AMAZING, a true tender to the bar and service you want to experience. Thank you Anthony and thank you ALL.
WE WILL BE SEEING YOU SOON. SOPHIE AND CRAIG BORBEY SORRELL ROOM 510 XX
