Last weekend I had my 30th Party here at The Ivory Hotel as well as staying over that night. I had such a fantastic time and I would recommend this place either for food, drinks or a function. The staff were brilliant especially Gerry behind the bar who kept making sure I had everything I needed during the night and Kat the night porter. I also had a lovely sleep in the comfy and spacious room. Thank you for a great night- I defo wont forget my 30th!
The place is ok. The rooms are clean. The people downstairs are very friendly and helped with the luggage.
However one must know there is a restaurant on the ground floor, where there was party into the night. Even though I had the room on the 2nd floor, it wasn’t quiet until 1 a.m. or so.
If that does not bother you and that you aren’t exactly downtown, then you are right.
I would rate 2 stars, if it wouldn’t have been for the help of the people.
Nightmare to park (until you find the unannounced parking), not-so-warm welcome, no baby-bed offered, sh*t disformed mattresses, and especially VERY LOUD street, with window in the room that can't be properly closed. Avoid this, you can find better for sure!
I travel to Glasgow every week as I'm currently on a client project for the next 6 months. I'm trying out different hotels to determine which one I should continue using during the remainder of the project. I stayed at Ivory Hotel for a week and it was not a pleasant experience at all. Firstly the TV didn't work which meant that I missed all the World Cup football during that week. Then there is the poor housekeeping. There's a sign in the en-suite which says (paraphrasing) "if you would like clean towels, please put all used towels on the shower floor". I did exactly that yet received no clean towels. Worst of all (well for me anyway) is that you are not allowed take-away food. This is the first hotel (out of c.30) that I stayed at in Scotland that did not allow me to order food from a take-away and eat in my room. I only found out about this when the, I'm assuming was the Hotel Manager (who was with the delivery man), banged on my room door and 'warned' me against ordering food from take-away's. She was very rude. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Ivory Hotel!
Staff are great and very friendly. Bedroom lamp had no bulb in it and sink was not attached to the wall. Curtains fail to close correctly and let in light. Bed throw was absolutely covered in body hair of both head and pubic. Obviously had not been washed for a while as there was a number of stains on it. This is not a quiet hotel, with loads of traffic noise and noise also from the bar.
