I've long wanted to experience what was the old Moathouse Hotel close to my football shrine of choice, the Hawthorns and recently took the plunge with a two night stay either side of a Baggies home match after driving south from Yorkshire. Two nights in a smart and tidy room with access to a gym and swimming pool proved perfect with a jaccuzi to soothe off the mild disappointment of a WBA draw. The staff were friendly, the venue needs a wee bit of work, the room service menu was massively overpriced (always the case but a wee bit of rampant profiteering going on here!) but this is a great place to stay overall and outstanding value compared to what you might get with Travelodge or Premier. Very accessible for Birmingham, the Baggies and the tortoise's crawlway that currently passes as the M5! I will be staying here again...but next time make it an Albion win!
This hotel may not be a 5* establishment , but sure feels like one!
The rooms may be basic, but are extremely comfortable.
The staff are extremely professional, polite, friendly and just 100% lovely.
The pool is small (10m length), the sauna fits about 4 people, but is exceptionally clean, well staffed and great to use. Open for good times of the day.
if you’re looking for a comfortable place to stay, with lovely staff, fantastic breakfasts and huge carparks, with a spa to chill in- then this is a fantastic place for you!
Great value, mid way through refurb hotel near West Bromwich.Stayed one night with a friend, met by the fabulous Yvonne on arrival, upgraded and treated like royalty.Yvonne helped us throughout our stay and is a credit to the hotel.
Almost all refurbished and it's looking great. We were lucky to have a refurbished room, beds extremely comfortable, decor very tasteful. Breakfast delicious and well stocked.
Only negative is that the spa facilities were minimal-no working jacuzzi, sauna nor steam room as they were out of action. Also,as we were 2 women using the pool,we felt uncomfortable with a group of older men huddled one end of the pool, not swimming but just looking. Not hotel guests it appeared;health club users perhaps?. We didn't enjoy this part of the stay/spa and waited for then to leave before we swam freely.
Overall a great place for business or pleasure, located a few mins from West Bromwich centre. Postcode incorrect on website however so call hotel for correct one!
Just had a weekend at the West Bromwich Hotel and Spa B70 6TU (UK) to celebrate our wedding anniversary, had it been a meal, I would have refused to pay the asking price. I understand refurbishments are on going but the basics are very wrong. Room dirty, wore socks all the time as carpet is stained and unkempt. Sink cracked, light fitting fell off wall, not working and has exposed electrical wire. Dust evident and cobwebs on the ceiling. We booked this hotel for its leisure facilities rather than others nearby. The pool area is disgraceful. Large amounts of congealed dust in air conditioning, no lockable lockers, advised to take valuables into the pool area with us. The sauna has not worked for 8 months according to staff, the steam room was not working and the hot tub was giving off fumes. Staff said the fumes was not too much chlorine but the PH levels! This is a great pity as the staff are friendly and I can recommend the breakfast.
Stayed for two nights on 4th floor overlooking roof of main building, double glazed window with seals that did not meet frame, so cold and noisy.
Short bed which meant could only be comfy diagonally. No small towels in room on second day. Due to show at local football ground reception could not cope with high level of check in check out, queues of up to six people, (receptionist was not at fault and worked efficiently). Pool area, Sauna not operating, no locking lockers available, small pool was very busy with patrons walking backwards and forwards. Whole building is very tired and worn looking. At over £60 per night with no apology about ongoing renovations. Pretty rubbish.
Stay at your peril or negotiate much cheaper price.....
