We arrived at the address to what looks like a squat, was let into a narrow passageway covered in old post, hanging electric cables and dodgy looking fire extinguishers, husband said "im not staying here" i had a glass of wine so saw the funny side and made light of it,on entering the room it was better than i thought, with a white gloss kitchen and what looked like a new bathroom,This is not an apartment its a room.
it initially looked quite clean until i pulled the bed back, long black hairs in the bed, fridge and sink,i fetched the lady who apologised and changed it.after she left i decided we would make the best of it as it was late, pulling the dirty rug at the side of the bed was disgusting, the bed had never been pulled out ever !! it was a real DIY disaster, badly fitted flooring wth architrave on top of skirting board, missing lampshade,Rusty freezer wth one leg, microwave had seen better days.
What most concerned my husband was the dodgy wiring on the cooker and under the influence of another bottle of wine from sainsburys across the road we planned our escape route should we have a fire ! Bathroom was o.k but in the light you could see the tiles were dirty
On the positive note it was close to the station & the centre and a great mexican across the road I would not stay again and save up to stay somewhere better .
Ok so this place is really close to the Camden Town tube station. It's also handy to the market, shops, bars and restaurants.
BUT - there are a couple of major issues here.
First it's not the place that's shown in the pictures on booking.com. There are a couple of pics that were like the place we stayed but most weren't at all like the spacious apartment shown.
Second it isn't 2 bedroom at all. It is one bedroom with a couch that folds into a second smaller bed in the lounge. We had to pack this up each day just to move around. Also it's not actually big enough for four adults as there's nowhere for luggage or anything to be stored.
Third it's really busy outside and there's LOTS of street noise through the day and late into each night. (Like 3am closing)
Fourth it claims in the listing to be luxury. It's a long way off luxurious and in need of some significant maintenance and upkeep.
All that considered it has s great location and would be fine for a heavy sleeping couple. The bathroom is great. Not suitable for more than 2 though.
So my partner and I booked one of their apartments (Murray street) for a weekend break in London on booking.com I immediately regretted it as although I had entered my card details on the website I received a email asking for a photo of my card, driving licence and my signature on a piece of paper to be sent to a gmail account. I tried to contact the hotel but the numbers given on the website didn't work! I contacted booking.com and told them to inform the hotel I wouldn't be sending sensitive data like that via email. IF THEY ASK YOU! DONT! Eventually we got there and I spent a good 30 mins trying to find the apartment as nowhere were we given the exact address (17 Murray street) and they wouldn't answer the phone! One of the numbers eventually worked and was told be the host to call her when I found it!! NO HELP! We got there and she told me I still needed to pay and the money hadn't been received, I argued and showed her my bank statement she then told me I needed to give her a £100 security deposit which is apparently in the small print! READ IT! She spoke to her boss and told him I was refusing to pay! NOT THE CASE AT ALL! Eventually we were allowed down to the dungeon! ONLY WAY TO DESCRIBE IT! The aircon was loud, Tv remote had no batteries, the fridge was falling over, there were half drunk bottles of water on the side which she told me to help myself to! THANKS! The sofa was bowed in the middle, the room was spacious but just plain uninviting! The dressing table dated and what the hell was their a exercise bike in there for?! She told us the guy across the hall was having a birthday party too tonight but if it got too loud just to tell him to keep the noise down! REALLY?! She replied 'well yeah guys it is a Saturday!' I took some paracetamol and she interrogated me on what I was taking! She then tried to take a photo of my credit card and ID which I refused to let her do, she got on the phone to her boss and passed me on I told him I wasn't letting them have that they had the money why do they need it?! She was then really rude and condescending when eventually I agreed a solution with her boss. HAPPY NOW? Were her exact words! She interrogated my partner on not smoking and decided she didn't want the security deposit anymore because we were leaving early and she didn't want to get up that early on a Sunday! PROFESSIONAL! She left through what I though was a cupboard door but turns out to be a alleyway filled with overflowing dustbins! SANITARY! Anyway we sat for 5 minutes then left! There's was nothing I wanted to do less than get into that bed with it's obviously old bedsheets. DO NOT BOOK THIS SCABBY APARTMENT THERE IS A BEAUTIFUL HOLIDAY INN FOR A EXTRA £40 A NIGHT RIGHT ON CAMDEN LOCK! Seriously the apartment location is terrible, holiday inn were amazing and so helpful and in a great location.
This is a review for Camden sq Apartments Murray Street Camden. ... The rudest host i have ever met. Shouted at us as soon as we arrived. Got into the room , No window, A child was sitiing at the dinning table on her laptop, didnt look up for 5 mins & then suddenly left looking at us as if we were an inconvience to her. (Obviously the hosts daughter) Room itself was clean but the welcome spoiled the whole evening. Took over 2 days to have our deposit returned & only after i had phoned 5 times. Hard to find in the street as number is stained in glass high above a door. Do not ever book this place.
Booked my holiday with BOOKING.COM.. booked Camden square appartments in London. Arrived at our apartment that we booked online for 4 people. They looked fabulous online. Got there only to be shoved into a lift to a basement with no windows and a couch no kitchen no adjoining room flithy dirty.. when I asked where the appartment was that I had booked. Told they were apartments in the city centre in a posh part of London. Rang the manager who said he would upgrade us for a price. We were brought to another apartment that people were living in. They were told to go. The place was full of rubbish and empty drink bottles. People were knocking on the door looking for their post. Upset and stressed we got into our car and headed back to Manchester in tears. No only was our holiday ruined be we were also out of pocket a €1000. Please please stay away from these appartments and the con artist named Aras. It's an absolute disgrace that people are allowed to take advantage of people like this. Will NEVER use booking.com again as they were no help whatsoever.
