I have previously stayed at this hotel in 2016 and there is a review filed previously on TA. My accessible, previous review provides location and premises information, which I won’t repeat in this review.
On arrival, it was apparent that there has been some renovation at this premises; the footprint of the car park appears to have been expanded and an additional exit has been added. The reception, I am convinced, was previously an enclosed desk area but is now an open meet-and-greet check-in area that I have seen becoming a trend at a lot of other PI locations. The check-in was swift (the colleague even mentioned getting me out of the rain and checked in without delay) and effective; around 2 minutes, I was going up the stairs.
The room was typical of a PI room; large raised bed, long expandable sofa-bed, desk with tea, coffee, etc., and a desk lamp, wall-mounted flat-screen TV, and menus provided for the adjoining restaurant for breakfast options. There was an open wardrobe with six hangers and additional pillows. The ‘bathroom’ in this room was simply a shower room, with a cubicle (no bath). Heating was provided by a wall-heater and a thermostat to select a temperature, and for cooing; an openable window.
The room, as before, was very clean and had also signs of hotel renovation since my last visit; USB socket-outlets beside the bed and what appeared to be a wall-mounted HDMI socket-outlet by the desk, below the TV.
The fact remains that although this hotel is in the “budget” bracket and there are a few, non-critical maintenance issues here and there that could be improved, this hotel’s main benefits are the colleagues, the room cleanliness and the location and its associated transport links (including M1, M69, A47).
As a single female I found this hotel secure, quit and comfortable. It is bed only so one has the option not to eat breakfast (for intermittent fasters) but reasonably priced food available. Reflected in room price. Fair. Only the standard, synthetic duvet was available: too hot for some, is my only criticism.
First stay at a premier inn. Needed place to stay close to family for family party. This was in ideal location and easy to find. Really nice premier inn, large room and very clean, friendly staff. Nice big pub attached with kids play area. Just wish they had rooms for families of 5 or even interconnecting rooms.
room was clean and staff helpful. had real trouble trying to find this place, I drove past it 2 times it did not help the fact that the premier inn sign was covered by trees and bush, I did report it. breakfast on second morning was horrendous, no eggs sausages only cooked in one place, cold tined mushrooms and tomato's, I did find out that no chef turned up that morning. got my money back
The staff were extremely helpful, I needed late checkout as i was getting married nearby the day after my stay. The staff left very thoughtful gifts on arrival in the room, there were elephants made from towels,l small bottles of wine and a very lovely handwritten postcard of well wishes for my wedding day. Considering there were lots of people arriving to deliver wedding items and to attend to me on the dy of the wedding, the staff were lovely and helpful, and even waited on their shift to see me in my wedding dress. it was a lovely experience;.
