After reading some pretty dismal reviews on here I was very apprehensive- but I booked last minute and it had everything I needed.
I went with my 3 young children 8,9 & 11. The room was clean (not huge) but nice. (Toilets smell a bit in Turkey) the food was ‘traditional’ but the snack bar served chips and flat bread pizzas every day so the kids were happy and I love all the salads.
There is an aqua park with slides and they entertain the kids during the day- I mainly stayed at the quieter pool- a small tunnel to the private beach area which is rocky and not great for little ones but the best thing is to go swimming off the pier ladders - or dive in. Really quiet on the beach. The bar staff are lovely and the hotel is cleaned constantly and I found I had mostly everyone needed. Make sure you do the Pirate boat trip - but book from the guys on the road right if the hotel near the shop (great for souvenirs.) the worst part of the holiday was the lack of English speakers I reckon it was 80% Russians- least they don’t hog sun beds as there was always plenty but the kids only met one other English family- clearly they’ve been put off by the terrible old reviews on here - thus I decided to add my more up to date review ... a few tips-
Take your own currency as the hotel does not exchange (the nice man in the shop changed some for me)
You need towels as not included in all inclusive
Apart from that I agree it is a 4star hotel and well worth the money
Avoid at all cost, I can not think of one thing positive about this place. I am not a fussy traveler, but expected basic standards. First off we were a group of 12 and arrived at midnight, (check in is at 2 pm so our rooms should have been ready) we greeted the man at the desk and he did not even say hello back just asked for reservation details and passport info. He then casually just said take seats as the room is not ready and will be ready in 2 hours, around 2 am. We were furious as we had children, were tired and he said nothing he can do. He then started working on the check in documentation, he took 45 minutes doing this, he did this on purpose to pass the time. Eventually he called the security guy from outside the hotel and went with him to go clean our rooms. So the rude man from front desk and security guy went to clean our rooms then came back gave our cards to our rooms. We complained next morning and they agreed we could have a late check out on day we were leaving as compensation. We had 4 rooms in total all were quite old and dated, we had booked sea view rooms but weren't given this. We complained and they changed our rooms on second day. Bare in mind the sea view and non sea view rooms are EXACTLY the same except sea view rooms you get the sea view from balcony from a distance. It is not an amazing view, there are bill boards and a busy road still in your view, so bare that in mind when booking and whether you want to pay extra for such rooms. So we initially had 4 non sea view rooms for 2 days then the rest of the days sea view rooms, all of the bathrooms stank of sewage, on some days when it didn't after having a shower the smell would come again. The rooms are small and nothing fancy! (also barely any socket plugs) The food is very bland and very similar all days. We ended up going into town at dinner time as the food at hotel was not very nice. It does have a good range of salads etc but as for mains they were not nice, desserts looked appealing but they have drenched all the desserts in a sugar syrup (don't know if this is to preserve and make it last longer) and it feels like you are eating just sugar. As other reviewers have mention it does get busy and people do push in. The snack bar is quite limited, drinks are limited. The soft drinks are given in tiny cheap plastic cups that you can gulp in one sip so would have to keep going back. The drink bars by the pools don't even have ice, ice is only available with your drinks during lunch and dinner. When we called the get an iron sent to our room, they acted as if we had asked for something preposterous. They eventually said OK, then they called back saying they will not give us an iron and we would have to use the laundry service which we would have to pay for. We said we just want to iron one shirt and they said they will not give us an iron to do it ourselves. When we asked for an extra room key at reception the lady got so angry and said come back later, we said why we have come now so why later, she grunted and then made us another room key. Everything was forced. The hotel is in the middle of no where (but can easily get bus into town) it is in between 3/4 other hotels that are literally right beside each other. At night the other hotels had loud music and entertainment going till 2/3 am which kept us up at night. The tea/coffee/milk is not really edible. I think they added water the the milk as it had a weird color and taste. Over all I wouldn't recommend this place, the hotel next door Dogany looked really nice when I had a wonder, maybe check them out. A lot of the reviews have stated it is catered for Russians, which is the case, however the whole of Alanya is, I don't think you will find any hotel which isn't. Even on excursions, majority is catering for Russians, shop keepers tend to speak Russian and not English, that is the case as they go there the most. Also the private beach area is small, there massive rocks and harsh waves. It is too dangerous to go into the water as you could hit the rocks when the wave comes at you, especially for children.
Just got back from this hotel. Hotel and room spotless. Food fresh everyday but the same everyday. Reception could do with a course in customer services. Beach not child friendly. Bar very load and Russian..no quiet area to have a drink and hear yourself speak. Some of the bar staff made me feel very uncomfortable about leaving my 16 year old alone around the pool and bar. Wouldn't recommend this hotel if you want a relaxing beach holiday..
My partner and I stayed at the Blue Fish Hotel for 10 days from 27th April 2018. The hotel had only been opened for the season for 4 days. All of the staff were so helpful and friendly. The Restaurant and Bar Manager, the waiters and the pool bar staff were particularly helpful and friendly (Cihan and Gokhan to name but two).
There weren't too many people at the hotel as it was still at the start of the season. The two pools were spotless as was the hotel and grounds. At the start of the holiday, the food in the restaurant was not very good but improved as the holiday progressed.
On our last day, we had to be out of the room by 1200 hrs but we did not leave the hotel to travel to the airport until 2200 hrs. We had asked, earlier in the day, if we could have a shower after we had finished sunbathing. The receptionist said that we would have to pay 20 Euros. We refused and had a shower at the poolside and changed in the changing room at the beach.
The entertainment at the hotel was non existent, apart from one night when a MALE belly dancer performed !!! The two entertainment staff were rubbish.
Overall we had a FANTASTIC holiday at the Blue Fish Hotel.
The blue fish is very nice hotel but unfortunately doesnt cater for us Brits it's mainly Russian guests who are very rude. Pool is lovely family room overlooking the pool is lovely. The food is ok. There is no day time entertainment and the evening entertainment is kids mini club and the animation team play games and try to get everyone involved but with the language barrier it's hard but they try there best. The hotel is in remote area with just a couple of clothes shops but no bars you have to get a bus or a taxi to alanya or konakli about a 10 mins drive but has lots of shops bars and restaurants. We had a lovely 10 night break but if your expecting grt entertainment, food, beach and places to go on your doorstep this isnt the hotel to come to. Hope you find this helpful.
