I spent a wonderful week at Patty and Ray's lovely place. My room was very comfortable, I had access to the whole house, including the kitchen, and was swimming every day and kayaking. Mostly, I really appreciated their trust in allowing me to stay most of the week on my own. It's not often that owners are so trusting of their visitors. I enjoyed long chats with the other guests and learning much about the island and culture. I was hiking most days and absolutely loved Misery Bay. I will definitely return.
Patty and Ray are outstanding hosts, from our style of location to breakfast presentation to conversation to a good night's rest to feeling welcome. We wanted to stay waterfront on an island and experience the local culture and we found it. Breakfast not only are culinarily outstanding but exceptionally well presented visually. Patty and Ray conversed on a plethora of topics and we all shared life experiences. Our room was quiet and very comfortable. And they shared tips for finding the local culture.
My wife Brenda and I stayed at "Pathway to Peace" for a whole week. Patty and Ray are excellent hosts ... they have a passion for their B&B and for the island ! It truly is a peaceful, tranquil and gorgeous location. It is quiet and away from traffic. Imagine waking up to catch sunrise and hearing loons from the dock (or better yet from their two kayaks out on the stillness of Big Lake), enjoying a healthy and sumptuous homemade organic breakfast with great coffee prepared by Patty, having close proximity to hiking trails, beautiful scenery, aboriginal culture, artistic venues, dining and other events, or just having the option of relaxing dockside / swimming / lounging in the breeze under shady trees. The property itself is cared for meticulously inside and out, and the landscaping is gorgeous. The lounge area has a very comfortable seating area with large windows overlooking the property and lake. Both Patty and Ray went the extra mile to inform and help us prepare excursions, recommend and make dining reservations, and making sure we felt comfortable, relaxed and feel truly at home. Our room was large, comfortable, serene, well appointed with bottled water and treats provided and the bed was VERY comfortable (fell asleep within minutes every night !). Our bathroom was spacious with a great selection of toiletries (bathrobes and slippers provided as well). For those into astronomy, photography, or just wanting to soak up the starry night sky / ambiance from the dock ... this is the place. I brought my telescope with me and took some Milky photos / time-lapse with my camera as well. We also met a wonderful couple during our stay and enjoyed two breakfasts together. Patty made us all feel like family together. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend "Pathway to Peace" to anyone considering a visit to Manitoulin Island !
Patty is an excellent hostess. She thinks of every amenity to ensure her guests have a positive experience. Breakfasts are colourful, healthy and most appealing with more than enough to eat. Great coffee as well.
Our bedroom was great with some fresh flowers from her beautiful gardens, bottled water along with some treats for the taking, bath robes supplied, lots of room, great comfortable bed and our own bath/shower next door.
The home is located on a large treed lot with a wonderful view of Big Lake. Sitting on the dock anytime of day was amazingly peaceful. Kayaks available (2) from Patty as well.
What we liked most about our stay at Pathway to Peace was Patty's amazing way of making us feel so at home. She is full of information about the island if you ask, she is fun and intelligent to talk with and she goes the extra ++++ miles to ensure her guests have a most pleasant experience.
This is a "Must Stay Place" on Manitoulin Island. Thanks again Patty for all you did for Bob and Dianne.
My husband and I really enjoyed our Anniversary weekend at Pathway To Peace Bed & Breakfast. Pathway to peace is the right name for this beautiful house right on "Big Lake". Crystal clear and clean lake that adults and kids can swim in. Too bad we weren't able to go for a swim because our stay there was too short. The house is very very clean and neat. The bedrooms are beautiful and beds are very comfortable. So peaceful and relaxing and if you love the stars, well this is the perfect spot. We enjoyed your company Patty, Bob and Diane looking at the stars at night through my husbands telescope which we brought with us. I want to thank Patty for your hospitality. You are an amazing sweet and kind person. Thank you for our anniversary surprise gift and surprise breakfast. Everything you needed was available there for us and we were able to help ourselves with everything and anything we needed. If you choose "Pathway To Peace Bed & Breakfast" you will feel like you are at home but better. Thanks for the delicious breakfast and edible flowers. We will definitely be back and stay longer. Bob and Diane hope we will meet again.
