I looked at so many hotels before I chose this one. I've since passed by many of them on the street walking around. Basically they are all 10 minutes walk to the Main Station.
The Main Staion apart from being a transport hub, has an excellent food court upstairs where you can get great food (try the restaurant called Dimsimsum), and also takeaway.
The Taipei M Hotel is conveniently located. You can walk to the Ximen area in 5-10 minutes, where there are many restaurants.
We booked a Triple Room (one double bed and one single bed), but got a Family Room (2 double beds) with two double beds. The room didn't have a window (which seems quite common in Taipei), but I thought the extra size of the Family Room compensated for that. It amounted to an upgrade.
The beds were firm, but comfortable with 4 pillows per bed.
The room had a large flat screen TV with several english channels, including s movie channel, tea making facilities, a mini fridge, and safe.
The reception staff were fantastic--particularly Coco who went out of her way to help us with everything from arranging a wheelchair for our Mother, calling taxi's, and even going out to the footpath to make sure we were on our way.
The hotel has obviously been refurbished. The effect in the rooms is a modern design, and very clean. The bathroom and toilet are very modern, but may not be to everyones taste. They are behind a glass partition at the end of the room. You cannot see anything through the glass. I have stayed in hotels in Europe with similar designs.
The breakfast room is on the 10th floor. The food is mostly Asian--noodles, rice, stir fry, tofu etc, but also toast and jam, and fruit. There are some soup selections, as well as fruit. The coffee and juice machines operate all day. You can go anytime and take a drink back to your room. The coffee is surprisingly good!
I've seen comment about the dark design of the corridors in the hotel. It's probably a matter of personal taste. I thought it was quite modern and added to the more upmarket feel to the renovated floors. There is adequate lighting and light coloured carpet.
The foyer by contrast has timber panelling and floors, with chandelier like light fittings. It has more of an old world feeling.
As we were 3 people, we mostly caught taxis. The most we paid was NTD350 to go to the Taiwan Palace Museum, and on another occasion NTD380 to go to a hot springs spa at Beitou.
I would recommend the Taipei M Hotel as a well kept, clean hotel, located conveniently to markets, the main station, two 7/11's and a Family Mart.
The service from the front desk staff, particularly Coco us outstanding. The room sraff are friendly and effucient.
All in all, a well run hotel which is definitely value for money.

I think this is a fairly new hotel as my taxi driver kept on insisting that the address is a commercial property and not a hotel. It is indeed a commercial property that is rented to different business , M Taipei Hotel is on the 2nd floor.

Kevin the hotel manager is very friendly and accommodating , gave us many suggestions on things to do and where to go. I have been in Taiwan for a week , I would say he is the best English speaker I have met so far among the locals , a blessing for non-Chinese speaker like me.

The hotel is very clean and quiet , my room is located to the end of the hall so it is even more quiet. I had the room with balcony and though it looks out to the inside of the building , I appreciated being able to stand on the balcony at night enjoying the night air. There is a coffee maker and TV inside every room and both the bathroom and room is very spacious and clean.

There are also many eateries and convenience stores nearby , it is facing a very busy road so getting a taxi is never a problem. Also a great HK style cafe a few doors away if you are tired of eating Taiwanese style food.
