Best asset of this villa resort is its people. They are super friendly and polite. All speak basic English. The space in the villa is also huge. The swimming pool is one of the biggest private pool i see on the net. Besides the living room cum dining room, the bedroom, the restroom and the swimming pool, you can also go to the rooftop where there is a cabana and a table with seats, together with a bbq pit. It would be great if you have a few friends hanging out at this villa. And as the villa faces a small hill, watching sun rise was fantastic fro the rooftop. The living cum dining room and the bedrooms are all aironed. Next is the food. Though there are just 3 sets of breakfast, the food is delicious. My favourite is the Hash Brown which they made it themselves. The Nasi Goreng is also good. Lastly, you can request to have your breakfast in the villa.
1st not-so-good thing I observed while travelling there is the location of the villa. There is practically nothing around within a 1km radius. There are a couple of local shops but i doubt any tourist will walk to buy anything from these local shops. To travel around, just get a GoJek. Its cheaper than a Grab or a taxi. Though the villa is quite isolated, it is quiet. 2nd thing about this villa is the TV reception. Though there are 2 TVs and many TV channels, most of them have too much static that makes it unwatchable. They asked the engineer to fixed and after replacing the cable, it is still quite bad. I also found out another villa also has the same problem. Hope the owner either get a satellite dish or have TV boxes. Last thing is about the pool. I do not think there is a filtration system for the pool, but it has some jaccuzi like spray form the sides of the pool. Thus, there are always some white powdery stuff in the water. I suspect this white stuff are from the plants that are beside the pool. Also, as there is a high wall on the other side of the pool, the pool does not have a lot of sun and the water is always cold.
Overall, if you want quiet and space, this is the place to go. If you want some fun, you can either rent a car/bike or call transport when you want to go out. The areas south of the airport are all within 30mins drive away
Nusa Dua Retreat and Spa is the definition of false advertising. If it had been up to me I would have checked out before our first night. The place was dead & we were the only people staying.
On check in I had to wait in the lobby area whilst they prepared our room, I could hear the workmen above who were building the communal toilets throughout our 3 night stay - we weren’t notified that there would be building work on during our stay.
After check in I decided to have a look around the resort to discover we were the only people staying - felt weird at first but I actually thought it could make our time rather relaxing (WRONG we felt uncomfortable throughout the stay). I tried to get some lunch in the resorts only restaurant & was informed that they were currently using the area for interviews so this wasn’t possible. I then tried to get a drink from both of the two bars & again not possible as they only stocked warm cans of Bintang at the price of 35k. Breakfast was edible, the young man who served us was lovely but unfortunately the food wasn’t great at all, I don’t think the resort has a chef as such just whoever is available at the time of order. You could however opt to have breakfast in your villa which we ended up doing 2 mornings of our 3 night stay. The menu only had 2 options out of the 5 available every morning so we ended up having the same.
During my first walk around the resort, I entered the “spa” a member of staff immediately said unfortunately massage is unavailable at the moment as they’re new to this, from what I’d read online the resort had been open since 2010! So the fact they’re advertising themselves as a spa is a complete lie.
The villa was the best part, it was visually as described. To look at from a far I couldn’t fault the place but the detail just wasn’t there. The kitchen came equipped with nothing but cutlery for two, 2 plates & coffee mugs - nothing else so it would have been impossible to cook a meal! The terraced was just tarmac with no seating area - however I did ask for sun loungers & this was addressed promptly.
We didn’t eat at the hotel apart from the breakfast, we did try to grab lunch one day but the restaurant was staffless so I tried reception & I was asked to wait & someone would serve me, I decided to have a look elsewhere out of the resort & grabbed a takeaway - be warned that if you do stay there, there isn’t much in the way of restaurants nearby unless you have your own transport. The hotel offered me their current menu which I have added a photo of which really doesn’t add up to their menu description online!
From our 3 night stay I got the impression this place lacked management, I do think the resort has potential but unfortunately at present I would not be returning or recommending.
Good: 1. The facility is awesome. Gigantic villa with a private pool, nice kitchen, huge bathroom, spacious living room. 2. Wifi is strong. 3. Kind and helpful staff. 4. Free transport to pandawa beach. 5. Delicious room service and breakfast.
Bad: Absolutely no access to any outside restaurants, beach, bars, convenient stores if you do not have your own car. Location is just... not good at all. My private driver had hard time to find out the location of this hotel.
We stayed in the 1 bedroom deluxe pool villa, it was amazing. Bedroom and bathroom was huge, and the private pool was a very generous size! Villa and pool was cleaned daily, linen was changed daily. It was spotless. The rooftop deck was so nice to sit on in the evening and look at the stars and overlook the forrest and ocean in the distance. The staff made our stay incredible, I cannot rate the service high enough. Every single member of staff were so friendly and would go out of their way to help you and make sure your stay was perfect. One of the drivers even worked back after he had finished to take us sightseeing as we were leaving the following morning after a quick trip- certainly went over and above!
The meals were great, it was nice to be able to eat in our villa or go down to the restaurant.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Nusa Dua Retreat, thank you so much to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable. We truly appreciate everything you did for us!
Returned again to the Nusa Dua Retreat for 2 weeks of relaxation and a rest.
Once again a fantastic stay.Staff could not be more helpful and friendly. Any request that we made was addressed promptly and resolved.
They are currently re furbishing some villas, but there was no noise that we heard which disturbed the tranquility.
Pandawa beach is very busy and alot of building is happening closer to the beach which is about 25 min walk down hill.
The Retreat provides a free shuttle car to and from Pandawa, Bali Collection in Nusa Dua and one way to Kuta to the Discovery Mall.
Sure, Nusa Dua retreat is 40 min away from Kuta and not in Nusa Dua , but this is the attraction of the Villas. But with access to the free shuttle service this is not a problem.
When returning to Bali , we will not hesitate in booking Nusa Dua Retreat yet again.
The rooms are HUGE, private pool , large living/dining room, large bathroom with huge bath and rain head shower, extra toilet in living room and large kitchen with family size fridge and microwave.
The photos really do not give this property any justice . Great private getaway set in rural setting and great afternoons spent in Pure bar upstairs enjoying the evening breeze and watching the world go by enjoying a drink and good food.
Once again Asep ( GM ) and staff Thankyou, another great stay
