Clifton Sands is an old-fashioned three-story apartment complex in a peaceful, non-touristy part of Clifton Beach and is only a minutes walk from a beautiful tropical beach. Our one-bedroom apartment was dated but clean and comfortable. Our little patio opened onto a grassy garden area which was visited every day by brilliant green Cairns Birdwing butterflies. The pool is also dated, but still enjoyable. However, Clifton Sands stands out from other accommodation we have tried in the area by its reasonable price ($210 for 3 nights on Wotif), and by having one of the most friendly and helpful staff members we have ever encountered. Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely Monika - even when we needed to stay another unexpected night when our return flight was cancelled.

We stayed at Clifton Sands for a week in May and had an excellent time. We stayed in two different apartments and both were really clean and well equipped. They had literally everything you needed to cook full meals. The wi-fi in the communal area is really good and the grounds and pool are really clean, tidy and well looked after. The location is excellent - just 2 minutes from the beach and an easy walk or cycle into Palm Cove. The bus to Cairns also stops literally outside the apartment building. The manager Linda is really helpful - nothing was too much to ask - and she helped us organise a tour to the reef which was excellent value for money.

We chose Clifton Sands for its location , right next to the sea and perfectly placed for the northern beaches , quiet and relaxing but with a friendly atmosphere..The apartment was perfectly appointed , we had everything we needed and it was spotlessly clean. The view directly over the palm fringed beach and we could sit watching the wonderful little birds and wallabies hopping by! One night we stayed home to cook as the weather was against us (!) and watched a DVD , there is a library with a fair selection of films and book in the office . Linda the manager was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the trips and tours around the area, particularly the Reef and Kuranda with the train , and sky rail ,super fun .She recommended places to go and all her restaurant choices were spot on. It was great to have the pool and the barbecue area , we felt as if we were part of a community not at all like 'tourists' which was a real treat as we had been travelling for some time .Great value and great service .would go back tomorrow if only we could .

We have just had a long stay at Clifton Sands in Clifton Beach.
We were sorry to leave, but one must go home at some stage.😂
We loved our unit, it had everything we needed on a holiday. Our bed was very comfortable and I loved the hot showers after a swim.
I loved sitting out on the balcony in the evening listening to the waves and watching the birds.
The beach is just a block away. We swam in the beach and also in the lovely pool at our units.
Linda the Manager was very friendly and helpful and was a font of knowledge about the area. Clifton Sands had everything we needed and more. I would definitely stay there again.

Clifton Sands is well located, with Palm Cove and Trinity Beach both within 5 mins drive by car or if you feel fit you can walk along the beach to Palm Cove in 20 mins: with Kuranda and Cairns city both about 25 - 30 mins drive. The apartments are self catered with well appointed kitchens, including a good size fridge and plenty of cooking utensils. The resort also has undercover parking for the majority of the units, a small pool area and separate BBQ area for guests.
Linda, who manages the resort and lives on site was very friendly and helpful.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Clifton Sands for five nights, which gave us enough time in Cairns to take in the sights and enjoy what Cairns had to offer.
