Mesmerizing location exactly at the bank of river. Morning and evening tea at the room balcony, from where the river view is best appreciated makes the tea time most refreshing. You can have Chinese or continental food anywhere, but if you r a food explorer then you shouldn't miss this place. Hardcore traditional, organic Himachali and chamyali food is served here. The taste and flavours r still fresh in my memory. Hospitality of any other place will fall short in comparison to their hospitality.
A river flowing besides a home is the most ideal place for some of us to live forever. Add to this perfect setting, a close view of mountains covered with snow in winters and with greenery at other times! Now would you ever think of going to the concrete jungle? I had to. After spending a good four days at this to-die-for place last year, I had to return to the city life. And my eyes welled-up bidding goodbye to the mountains and the river.
My husband and I take a week off every year in March to visit a new place. In 2016, almost this time, we decided to go to Chamba in Himachal Pradesh. While surfing online, a red-coloured home continuously came up in the image search as a staying option. I was attracted to its location and googled for how to reach. In a few days, we were discussing our home-stay option with Manish Jamwal, owner of The Jamval Villa Home-stay (JVH) in Chamba.
We take this vacation for being at ease and not to rush or follow an itinerary. After travelling till Pathankot, we took a bus ride of almost five hours to reach district Chamba. We were guided by Manish to reach the hilly village KuraaN in Mehla which is a 15-min cab drive from Chamba bus stand. Inside the iron main gate is a typical hill home made of wood. After the courtyard and L-shaped porch were the warm and cozy rooms with wooden furniture. As soon as we reached, the Jamwal family’s courteous and hospitable members welcomed us and showed around.
After crossing the courtyard, another single-storey building is built which had our clean and soberly-done room on the ground floor. One of the walls is made of grey stones which give the room a vintage feeling. Its window opens to the open veranda on the other side of the house – which is the most scenic area of the entire place. The washroom is a spacious and well-equipped one.
The open veranda has river Bias flowing adjacent to it. And across the river stand mighty mountains giving a private feeling to the JVH residents. Laying on the hammock in the evening or sitting with a book on one of the rocks in the open veranda whole day could be one of the things you would tick off from your bucket list right here in this customized natural setting!
The Homestay is situated in an excellent location on the bank of Ravi river among beautiful nature. On one side it is Dhauladhar range and on the other it is Pirpanjal, meaning the homestay is surrounded by high and magnificent mountains on the bank of musical stream of Ravi - splendid! The property is well maintained. The well and soberly decorated room is comfortable and spacious. Bathroom is clean with geyser installed. Most importantly, the people are very very lovely. A special mention is must for the delicious foods, which are cooked by Manish's mother. Many vegetables are in fact picked up fresh from their garden just before cooking and each item has distinct local taste and flavour. We thoroughly enjoyed various Himachal dishes in every breakfast and dinner during our three day stay. I would highly recommend the homestay for a unique stay in Chamba, of course only for those who would love to relax among the nature away from maddening crowd.
Had an amazing experience at the short but memorable stay at Jamwal Villa homestay. The hospitality, room aesthetics & cleanliness, cuisine & surroundings was just great and would love to come back again and maybe also go for the stay at their camping site & further trekking. Would recommend the adventure travelers willing to explore the beautiful culture & mountains of Himachal's Chamba belt to have a brief relaxing stay here, you'd want to come back again!
This is a review -cum- a Thank you letter for Mr. Jamwal for making our vacation truly memorable.
Describing the location, "The Home" is far from the city hustle in a village, Kuranh which is a plus point for travellers seeking refuge from crowd and looking for peaceful stay. One can easily hear the gushes of River Ravi right from the Room or even from the road above. The river is about 500 mts from the Home.
Coming to the details of the Home, it is a melange of culture, beauty and creativity.
The premises have a lot of trees laden with flowers and fruits; and is beautifully designed. One can literally see different variety of plants. The family is fond of animals and they take good care of friendly Glady (their lab), a couple of rabbits, guinea pigs and various birds who are equally friendly with the guests, especially Glady.
The rooms have a good view and are very clean. The backside on the ground level has a seating area with swing chairs which face the river and huge green hills.
The hospitality of the family is prodigious. I would not forget to mention, Manoj, who was present at any time of the day. He did not just attend us but kept us informed about what we ate, what we could see around, about their culture and a lot more. Moreover Mrs. Jamwal, another sweet member of the family, met us at the end of both days to enquire about our meals and our day.
Concluding the overall experience I would also mention the special attention Mr. Jamwal gave to the guests. He accompanied us to a nearby waterfall and Hidimba Devi Temple providing all the information related to the temples, the locations and moreover his plans to develop Chamba as an ecological site. His dedication towards Chamba and Chamyali culture is commendable and an inspiration.
We would certainly re-visit Chamba and take shelter at Jamwalvilla :)
P.S- Aditya (his son) is a great company.
