Excellent hotel from start to finish, I travelled here from the West Midlands with 11 girlfriends to celebrate mine and my twin sisters 40th in York. Location was perfect,we arrived to our afternoon tea which was delicious. Rooms were located in the new building and were huge and well equipped and kitted out with what we needed..We had our evening meal in the Fat Abbot which was lovely, ok service was a little slow but that was to be expected on a busy Friday night the food however was amazing, steaks were a big hit with most of the group! We tried the Gin bar albiet small it was smart and a very cosy room only niggle it was a little on the expensive side! Breakfast was everything we needed, cereal, fruit, full monty or choose your own, our table was laid both mornings and with our party name on the table made it more personal. We also spent a couple of hours in the spa area followed by a few lengths in the pool, all excellent facilities,
clean and most of all relaxing. I would highly recommend and will definitely becoming back! Thank you, keep up the good work!

We stayed two nights in late August. The rooms were well equipped however both were disturbed by noise.
Room 5 was just above reception above the entrance and we were disturbed by receptionists and loud wedding guests on a Monday night. The worst was the morning delivery of barrels each morning that sent shock waves up the building and shouting drivers. People smoking and shouting outside was unpleasant as well.
Room 6 was disturbed by music from the wedding.
Breakfast was nice.

My boyfriend had booked for us to have a few hours at the spa on our way back from York. When we arrived the staff were very helpful and explained everything to us, we completed the forms whilst have tea and biscuits which was a nice touch. We used the gym, pool area and had a facial each. As it was a hot day the building was very hot and the only place that had some air conditioning was the gym, which made it a little uncomfortable to relax by the pool, however, it’s a nice place to spend a few hours.
