We stayed in #38 the loft apartment for two weeks and enjoyed ourselves. Not much else to add from the previous comments. Sure the stairs going to the bedroom are steep and narrow but they were no problem for us. The location is steps from the beach and you have an ocean view. The cook top and microwave help keep costs down as the small grocery is almost next door. The huge fridge is great for storing frosty beverages. The thin pizza at the Yellow Sub downstairs is European and outstanding. We booked with Isabelle and she took care of everything from a car rental to having someone meet us at the property late at night after our arrival. The place is a little worn, but it adds to the ambiance. This is simply the best value you will find and we will be returning!!
We decided to visit about a week prior to heading down - so were limited in what was available. Magali at Sprimbarth had RDLP #37 open for the 4 days that we would be in St. Martin.
This is a small one bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor (top floor) of the Residences. The main area is the kitchen, living area and bathroom. The one bedroom is actually a loft up some narrow stairs. There is a small balcony off the living area that overlooks the Yellow Sub restaurant and out to the ocean.
Depending what you are looking for this could be a nice option for a stay in St. Martin. We enjoyed the apartment - but were glad that we were only there for a few days. The location is great. You are across the street from some excellent restaurants. You are just a minute from the beach and all the beach clubs. Fresh pastries and bread for breakfast are just downstairs -- and the grocery store is also readily available.
We did find the noise to be a bit much for a couple of the nights. Bikini beach club has a party night on Sunday until about 2:00 am. There is also some music and noise on Monday until midnight. Otherwise it gets pretty quiet by 10:00ish -- so no issues.
Also - the apartment is missing a few basics. There is not really anyplace to put your suitcase. We had small carry-on bags so ended up putting them on chairs in the living area. The bedroom has no dresser - so it seemed best to keep the clothes downstairs. There is no dishwasher, oven or washer. If you are staying more than a week these might be great to have. There is a small 2 burner stove, a microwave, fridge -- all good for a short stay.
Overall -- a nice location. Everything was clean and beyond a few minor inconveniences - a nice place to stay.
We stayed in #37. These apartments have the best location in orient bay village. steps to the beach and steps to about 8-10 restaurants and shops. Several beach bars and activities are very close as well. This is a very active location and there was a lot of people here. That is what I was looking for so it worked out well. Note that most of the action is during the day and by 10 at night it will be very quiet. The apartment itself had everything we needed; Full kitchenette, everything except an oven, The Bathroom was ample sized w/ full stand up shower. the bedroom was a loft which was nice as it kept the living space separate. The best part was the view from the balcony. Clear view to the ocean. Although, there is also a very well traveled parking/walking area before the beach. However it was fun to people watch from our point of view. The rental office is right across the street. We did not have any issues so the only time we were there was to check in/out. Magali, the rental manager, was fantastic as she greeted us on time when we arrived and walked us through the apartment. When staying here, you have access to the beach chairs at La playa bar and also have access to the pool at L'hoste hotel. Orient Bay village is a gated community and very safe. We had no issues walking around at night or anytime. Overall, a great place to stay if you are looking for a great beach location and an unforgettable view.
Two minute walk to the beach, pastry, crepes, ice cream, and restaurants. I couldn't believe my luck. I stayed by myself in #34. As far as I can tell all the apartments are the same design, but they are furnished differently and have different views. #34 is on the 2nd level. One long room with kitchenette, bath, living room, wide sliding door opening onto a private porch, and a loft bedroom.
The furniture in my apartment was especially attractive and comfortable. The table and chairs on the porch were my favorite. Besides the sink and refrigerator there are two burners and a microwave (no oven.) The view straight ahead from the porch was large trees. Looking to the right I could get a glimpse of the ocean.
In the loft is a king size bed, two bed stands and lights, and a dresser and a chair. There is a very beautiful painting on the wall. I can't recall ever staying anywhere that had a piece of art of this quality. A disadvantage for an old man like me who has to go to the bathroom a couple times a night is the bed in the loft and the bathroom down the very steep stairway.
To find this quality of accommodation just two minutes from the beach was the real prize. Two minutes in the other direction are a series of small shops. One makes excellent crepes and also sells ice cream. Good Morning Café has wonderful pastries and baguettes. Right across the street are seven restaurants. I tried five of them and went back a second time to my favorite, Cote Plage.
The rental agency was also right across the street. Magali and Gael were very helpful.
We were a group of 4 adult women and stayed in unit 26. It was perfect. Mere steps from the beach with restaurants right outside of your door. Keep in mind this is more of an apartment which is what we loved. Located right above a small market, we had the smell of fresh baked bread every morning. The room was well equipped and in good working order. Beach chairs and towels were also provided. We took public transportation to Grand Case one day and had a rental car for the rest of our exploration. We saw many beaches but Orient Bay was the nicest. Residence de la Plage is no 5 star hotel, these are several apartments located above shops and restaurants. But for a small family or group looking for a budget trip to the expensive French Side, this is great. We loved it!
